Publisher's summary

In the third book of the number-four New York Times best-selling Neverwinter saga, Drizzt draws his swords once more to aid his friends. His lover, Dahlia Sin’felle, can speak of nothing but the moment she will face the Netherese lord Herzgo Alegni once again. Drizzt has already followed a trail of vengeance beside Dahlia. Can he justify one more battle to settle a grudge he does not understand?

Artemis Entreri too seeks vengeance. He offers to aid Dahlia in her mission to destroy Alegni. But Charon’s Claw, Alegni’s sentient sword, dominates Entreri’s movements - if not his mind. And then there’s the way Entreri looks at Dahlia. Can Drizzt trust his old foe?

It just keeps getting better!

Wow...R.A. Salvatore does it again! All of his books are so consistently great! And, it is so awesome to have Entreri back in the game adventuring with our favorite hero Drizzt. A real blast from the past and such a fun character. If you have read the other two, read this one! I truly enjoyed this book and look forward to the next one in the series.

A meandering tale

Not Salvatore's best work but a decent read. To me, it seems he is spending way too much time developing back story for more books. He needs to focus on the one he's writing rather than the ones he is planning.

STOP HIRING VICTOR BEVINE !!!!!!! SERIOUS !!!!!!

Any additional comments?

i would recommend reading it yourself. a decent book (though definitely not salvatore's best) if you can ignore the different format than all his other Drizzt books (a lot of jumping around, bunny trails that get forgotten about, a denoumont that seems to last forever), but the series does at least have an ending, and there are many good parts. i feel the need to campaign against every audio book that is read by Victor Bevine, though. every book of his has me gritting my teeth, rolling my eyes, & taking deep breaths to calm my agitation. this idiot not only mispronounces a few common words (that are frequently used), but his voices for almost all the the numerous characters is the same talentless ridiculous attempt: the stereotypical big dumb henchman. yeah, that doesn't work for most of the characters... at all. sometimes he really pours it on, and i literally have to stop whatever it is i am doing to either laugh out loud or clench my fists in irritation. and what he really does the worst is try to sound out laughter. "bwahahaha" is NOT, I REPEAT NOT MEANT TO BE PRONOUNCED LIKE AN EXOTIC FIRST NAME. AND "bah" is NOT MEANT TO BE USED LIKE THE TITLE "mom". how wonderful it is, then, that Salvatore uses those two iterations CONSTANTLY THROUGHOUT THE LAST 7 BOOKS!!! AND WE HAVE TO SUFFER THROUGH THIS IMBECILE HACK as he murders almost every bit of character dialogue in the entire series!!! WHO KEEPS HIRING THIS GUY?!?!?! STOP!!! listen to some of his work, first. he DOES have a great speaking voice, when he is just reading the action, so he would make a great narrator for a romance novel, perhaps, but not for anything fantasy or sci-fi, or anything that has unusual or boisterous character work.

If you follow the series….

If you’re reading the review for this title then you already know that RAS is a genius with fantasy than Charons Claw is no exception to his masterful series. Drizzt leads his companion friends to destroy the legendary sentient sword that plagues an old nemesis turned ally. Enjoy the long road ahead, FOR MORRIDON!!!!

Terrible Reader

i love Bob Salvatore's stories and this Victor Bevine is ruining them with his half arsed performance. He mispronounces words consistently, such as "lived" (lye-v) and "bade" (bad) it is very jarring and ruins my suspension of disbelief. They need to hire someone else and redo the narration. The story is great, action packed and delightful but the vocal performance Mr Bevine sucks.

excellent as always

I prefer these books where Drizzt is the main focus, but it was still excellent.

Lovesick puppy

The narration was fantastic as usual! I have been reading Drizzt books for 30 years and love the stories. The interaction between Drizzt and Entreri is always enjoyable to read but reading Drizzt being a jealous simping puppy was hard to get through. Great book though.

Quest to Destroy the Sword

Enjoyable adventure that ties up some plot points. Good character development. Solid adventure to try and destroy the sword. Multiple factions at competing goals.
