What a stupid book

I finished the book and literally have no idea what was going on. There is so much of nothing from the beginning until maybe the last chapter. A bunch of nonsense. Not only that, but Thorn was in “heat” meaning she wants to f*ck everything with a pen-is. Every chapter had Thorn saying she’s in heat. Like an effing in-spayed cat. Not only that but the fact that all the mages, demons, and Serifs want her because of her heat. I don’t understand why all mage women goes into heat? Nobody explained that. Why can’t the guys go into heat? It’s so stupid. The narrator made me feel like Thorn was a hippie. I hate these types of narrators that talk-whisper. I just can’t sympathize with the main character. Just stupid. Not this authors best work.

Unique and Exciting!

Completely new lore, an adventure story set in an obscure post-apocalyptic Earth, experiencing a new ice-age. Humans have slid into religious dogma, where the punishment for seemingly minor infractions (such as swearing out loud) could result in severe punishment.
Brings calling themselves Serifs are worshipped and believed to be Angels, are deadly and mysterious, often ruling with a merciless result.
The main character is a Stone Mage who’s identity must be kept secret, under penalty if gruesome torturous death. She must never reveal her true identity, or even let he best friends know what she can do, lest they suffer the same penalty as she.
I LOVE this book!

it was a good story

I had a hard time figuring out who was speaking without the narrator stating the name. the narrator was OK. she did not try to change her voice for the characters. The author was awesome.

Great storytelling

This story of angelic host is extremely unique and still feels authentic. The author's storytelling flows very poetically.

Captivating Fantasy World

I enjoyed and loved the Soulwood series and thought there was no way another series would be as good. I was wrong. Bloodring had me within the first 5 minutes. Looking forward to the remaining 2 books. I’m sure I will wish there were 20 more.

I Just Don't Get It

I have very much enjoyed both the Jane Yellowrock and Solewood series by author Faith Hunter..and was quite surprised that this series didn't snap with me.

For some reason, I've yet, after 2 novels, to get involved with the protagonist. I don't feel her fears, her hopes and her needs.

Her world is weird to me..dunno why.

Those who like Soulwood or Jane, be aware that this is VERY different. Not that different is bad..it's just really different!

I listened to this first book and half way thru the second last winter. I'll give it another try while working in the garden, when I just want something other than music murmering in my ears..it that doesn't work, it will go back!

Too bad..but others do love it..just a different opinion here.

Interesting world Faith Hunter has introduced

If you could sum up Bloodring in three words, what would they be?

Imaginative, deep and thought provoking. (I know it is four words but that describes it for me)

What other book might you compare Bloodring to and why?

I don't think I have ever read anything quite like it. Wonderfully different.

What about Natalie Gold’s performance did you like?

The flow of the read. The emotion and how she brings the characters off the page and into my reading experience.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would be the tag line be?

Like the book cover says "The Apocalypse Takes Wing"

Any additional comments?

If you have yet to experience the worlds Faith Hunter has introduced us too, what are you waiting for? Download this book, buy the print or download the ebook and jump right in. I think you will be glad you did. OH...and read her other works too!!
