Publisher's summary

The Witcher, Geralt of Rivia, holds the fate of the world in his hands in the New York Times best-selling first novel in the Witcher series that inspired the Netflix show and video games.

For more than a hundred years humans, dwarves, gnomes and elves lived together in relative peace. But times have changed, the uneasy peace is over and now the races once again fight each other - and themselves: dwarves are killing their kinsmen, and elves are murdering humans and elves, at least those elves who are friendly to humans....

Into this tumultuous time is born a child for whom the witchers of the world have been waiting. Ciri, the granddaughter of Queen Calanthe, the Lioness of Cintra, has strange powers and a stranger destiny, for prophecy names her the Flame, one with the power to change the world - for good, or for evil....

Geralt, the witcher of Rivia, has taken Ciri to the relative safety of the Witchers' Settlement, but it soon becomes clear that Ciri isn't like the other witchers. As the political situation grows ever dimmer and the threat of war hangs almost palpably over the land, Geralt searches for someone to train Ciri's unique powers. But someone else has an eye on the young girl, someone who understand exactly what the prophecy means - and exactly what Ciri's power can do.

This time Geralt may have met his match.

great book

is not as action packed as the other books, this one is more focused on the relationship of Ciri an the rest of the cast, is very entertaining and exciting on its own.

Bloody brilliant and the narration grows on you

I'm an instant fan. The narration while not instantly attracting you in, grows in and you and manages to keep you listening continously.

Narrator speaks too fast

Good story but I had to reduce the speed of the narration ( speaking rate) from standard speed to slightly slower. Either it’s set wrong to begin with or the narrator speaks way way too fast to enjoy listening to the story.

Amazing start to an amazing journey!

After reading the whole saga of the Witcher, I smiled in nostalgia after listening to the first entery of the main books read to me in a refreshing fashion! The Witcher world felt like new and I thoroughly enjoyed Peter's narration!

good entry in a wonderful series

The first 2 books in the witcher series (pre-trilogy) are so good, that it's really hard to live up to their standards.
This book - the first in the trilogy - is a necessary step forward in the story. It's not as awe-inspiring as its predecessors, but still a great listen. The narration. as always, is SUPERB.

I did not even notice the time flying

The Witcher world is very detailed and the the writer usually gave the right ammount of description just about anything. Not too much, not too little.
The story was interesting, albeit it ended very abruptly.
The voice acting is great and different from character to character.
