Ode to Anna

This was fantastic. It was like an extra treat because I thought the previous book was going to be the last. Followers of the series know the last book ended with Anna off to see Daniel Frye and his son John John with a pep in her step and and a smile on her face.

Thinking that was the last book, I was a little bummed we wouldn't get to see what Anna and Frye would be like as a real couple after all the adventures they've been on together. This book is exactly along the lines I was picturing at the end of the last book. I'm just sorry that there won't be any more. I've read/listened to this series many many times. This time we get to go an adventure with Anna and Frye as a couple ( and the super cute Jon Jon). I was totally elated and don't want to spoil anything.

There's just something about Anna. Every since she was attacked on a bounty-hunter job by a vampire and inadvertently changed, I've been intrigued. I've been with Anna as she tried to grasp her new vampire nature and keep her human friends and family from finding out. As she discovered that she was the next Chosen One for vampire kind. She's not perfect, quick to anger and strike out, snarky, willful, stubborn...But she's also loyal, a good friend, protector of humanity, capable of love.

This series has also got some great supporting characters. Shot out to David, Culebra, Max, Williams, Gloria, Belinda Burke, Lance, Steven etc.

This was less a review and more of an ODE. Fair well Anna.

Narration: Dina Pearlman is one of my favorite narrators. I've purchased audio books just because she was reading them. As always she does a fantastic job. She IS Anna.

This is the best ending to a wonderful series!!!!

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Definitely!!!!!!!
Ever since I started reading her story I have been on the edge of my seat waiting for the next one.
In fact I recommend the whole 9 yards :)

What other book might you compare Blood Bond to and why?

That's easy, Jane Jameson, Kismet Knight, Vampire Psychologist, Parasol Protectorate, Phoenix Pack, Protector of the Small Quartet, Vampire for Hire, Chicagoland Vampires and Dark Series because the main characters or co-protagonists are all strong willed women like myself only prettier.

Which character – as performed by Dina Pearlman – was your favorite?

Anna, Frey, John John, Culebra and Vlad and Max.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Definitely, no matter how sleepy I was I couldn't rest until I reached the end!!!!!

Any additional comments?

I feel satisfied in knowing this is the end and that I don't have to suffer waiting to see what happens next. Sad that Anna's mom is dying but glad that she got to live long enough to fix things between them and see a parents most cherished wish come true.If you haven't read any of Anna Strong's books your missing out on a great adventure.I am kinda sad to know that this is the end of the series but I will never get tired of reading it over and over and over again :)

Not as good.

Would you listen to Blood Bond again? Why?

No, it was good but not as good as the others. Lacked the action her other books had.

If you’ve listened to books by Jeanne C. Stein before, how does this one compare?

Not as good there was much more story in her other books.

What does Dina Pearlman bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

She fits the character so well. She's a good reader.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

No

Any additional comments?

I don't know if this is the end of the series I hope not. I hope she comes back ready to do more battles. This seemed like it was tying ever thing off to end the series. I missed the action of her previous books. Sure hope she comes back Ms. Stein is a really good writer. But I would recommend the book just don't expect the action of her previous books.

Nice family story

It’s sad and soft , brings Ana’s family on focus.. finally , she settles down. A story of loss and love

To much romance

Not a usual Anna strong book. Not much happened and it was to much romance

WTF? When did this turn into soft porn?

What did you like best about Blood Bond? What did you like least?

I thoroughly enjoyed the first few books. But as the series has progressed it's turned into soft porn. It seems as though the sex scenes are just filler at this point. It doesn't progress the story at all. I don't know if I would purchase the next book in the series.

What could Jeanne C. Stein have done to make this a more enjoyable book for you?

More story and less descriptions of Anna's sexual pleasures.

What about Dina Pearlman’s performance did you like?

Dina Pearlman's range in voice and character is amazing. Each character is distinctive and unique.

If this book were a movie would you go see it?

Not this book but perhaps the earlier in the series.

Any additional comments?

I like the addition of Vlad.

Very Emotional

Would you consider the audio edition of Blood Bond to be better than the print version?

The story draws the listener into a lot of emotions that Anna Strong experiences. I actually found myself laughing out loud and even crying a time or two. As the next in the saga, I enjoyed how J.C. Stein continued from the last book to this one. She also left the reader wondering what would happen next in book 10. The whole premise of being the Chosen One is still a bit foggy. Am hoping that the next book brings it all together.

Who was your favorite character and why?

You have to love Daniel Fry. Ms. Pearlman's vocal talent is impressive when it comes to the male characters.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

Not sure that this storyline would carry over to the big screen with the same level of satisfaction you get from reading or listening to the story.

Yes

Which scene was your favorite?

From the vampire party to the shapeshifter's death.

What reaction did this book spark in you? Anger, sadness, disappointment?

I couldn't wait for the book to be over. Kept thinking somethings going to happen. Only one action scene in the entire book. A whole lot of nothing in this book.

Meh

Would you try another book from Jeanne C. Stein and/or Dina Pearlman?

I've read all of the Anna Strong Books.

Would you ever listen to anything by Jeanne C. Stein again?

After this I don't know

Would you be willing to try another one of Dina Pearlman’s performances?

No, she sounds like an old person reading the newspaper

What reaction did this book spark in you? Anger, sadness, disappointment?

Disappointment

Any additional comments?

The rest of the series is great, except for the narrator. This book was unnecessary as an ending.
