Publisher's Summary

Keesha is woken from his winter torpor by a surprising visitor to the Dreaming Sea. His old enemy, Arcove, has a problem, and he needs Keesha's help.

Awake is a cross-over story between the novel Hunters Unlucky and the Prophet of Panamindorah series. You should probably listen to Hunters before listening to Awake, but you don't need to have heard Prophet.

    "Old enemies find common purpose."

Awake is a short story that takes place perhaps a few years after Hunters Unlucky. Arcove is forced to seek out an old enemy for advice when an unusual visitor arrives in Leechwood.

I enjoyed returning to this fantasy island of sentient, talking creatures. It was interesting to see how events had progressed and how relationships had changed.

If you have already listened to Hunters Unlucky, this is worth adding to your collection. If not, grab Hunters Unlucky first, it's an excellent story.

Narration is high quality, Rish Outfield again lending his voice talents to bring the characters to life.

"A merging of two fan favorite worlds"

A great story for existing fans, Awake brings two of Hilton's worlds together. Mostly focused on one of the more mysterious characters from Hunter's Unlucky, this short story gives an in depth look into a fan favorite. It also shows the next event in the life of one of the Panamindora characters. Rish Outfield dose an amazing job as always, his character voice range is always a treat. Highly recommend it.

    Story
    "Fun romp back in Lydia"
Where does Awake rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

This is a short story, so it isn't fair to compare it to a novel. This was a fun story that I will listen to again in a year or so when I want a quick return to Lydia.

What other book might you compare Awake to and why?

This story has hints of Narnia and Watership Down, and hints of Percy Jackson and Harry Potter. It is a world with unique magic and mythology, but that isn't what keeps drawing me back. It's the characters that drive the stories and that's what pulls you back.

Have you listened to any of Rish Outfield’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

Rish's performance is superb, as always. Each species has its own accent and each character their own voice. Add to that amazing narration and it is a joy to listen to.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

Towards the end, when a character had a revelation with respect to another character.

    Any additional comments?

The only bad thing I'd say about this story is that it assumes that I remember all of the side characters from Hunters Unlucky without providing much of any context. Most of them I eventually figured out, but the story suffers some from not spending a small amount of time on reintroducing the side characters.

    "A great return to Panamindorah!"

If you're unfamiliar with Panamindorah or Hunters Unlucky, you're not going to understand this story. That said, those who are familiar with Hilton's work will find this an engaging story that gives new depth to the world and familiar characters. I'm always so glad to return to Panamindorah!

"A wonderful story with amazing narration"

This story is a great cross over from Hunters Unlucky and Panamandorah. A well written story that stands alone but will leave you wanting more from both universes. Rish Outfield's narration is as usual wonderful. His range of character voices is second to none.
