Publisher's summary

An original novel set in the universe of Star Trek: Voyager, from the New York Times best-selling author!

As the Federation starship Voyager continues to lead the Full Circle Fleet in its exploration of the Delta Quadrant, Admiral Kathryn Janeway remains concerned about the Krenim Imperium and its ability to rewrite time to suit its whims. At Captain Chakotay's suggestion, however, she orders the fleet to focus its attention on a unique planet in a binary system where a new element has been discovered. Several biospheres exist on this otherwise uninhabitable world, each containing different atmospheres and features that argue other sentient beings once resided on the surface. Janeway hopes that digging into an old-fashioned scientific mystery will lift the crews' morale, but she soon realizes that the secrets buried on this world may be part of a much larger puzzle - one that points to the existence of a species whose power to reshape the galaxy might dwarf that of the Krenim.

Meanwhile, Lieutenants Nancy Conlon and Harry Kim continue to struggle with the choices related to Conlon’s degenerative condition. Full Circle’s medical staff discovers a potential solution, but complications will force a fellow officer to confront her people’s troubled past and her own future in ways she never imagined....

Great narration, great story to continue Voyager.

Great narration, and the story is a great Star Trek adventure continuing Voyager.
Though sometimes elements of the story seemed to drag a bit (details of the interpersonal relationships of non-central characters) it paid off well and tied up the story very well.
The story pays about equal attention to central characters from the series and to characters not present in the show, but that actually turned into a nice surprise and seems to expand on the world of Voyager in an interesting way.
It should be known to Audible only consumers that this book is apparently part of a series, seems to take place after some events concerning these characters and the end sets up the next book.
This wasn't a problem though because the end ties up THIS story well and makes you want the next right away!
I hope that they do more Audible books in this series, and/or more stories about Voyager.
I would also hope that the narrator does more Star Trek stories in the future, she was fantastic and really helps to immerse you into the world of Voyager years after the end of the story in the show.

Exciting twists & turns with lovable familiarity

The dialog fit each familiar Voyager character, but was stale at times.

The action, discovery, and scientific discussion was simply breathtaking & mesmerizing. I couldn’t stop listening.

Whiny Jr. Starfleet Personnel - Spoilers

This is a well written story. A true Star Trek adventure and I'm glad I listened to it almost straight through. I didn't agree that Dr. Sal was unethical, at all. The Counselor should not have made that promise to remain quiet IF he believed Dr. Sal's actions were unethical. The Science Officer was insecure and jealous, which led to actions that endangered her and her fellow officers, and then was hidden behind noble self-lessness. The Guin character blames senior officers for the actions of the Scienc Officer which justifies insecurity and jealousness as foundational values for success. Narrator is excellent.

To much goop

I can see why Star Trek Picard took so long to get to the end. The story was good, but author spent to much time on tangent issue. To the point of boredom

An Interesting Story for Non-Cannon Star Trek

This was an interesting story for non-cannon Star Trek. It was a good read, not a great read but good. The only thing that doesn't make sense so Janeway starts with 12 ship she loses eight and keeps going with her mission to explore the delta quadrant. In what world does and admiral lose 2/3 of their fleet and be allowed to continue a peacetime exploration mission. This isn't wartime and from what I know of the Federation they would and should of recalled the fleet with these kind of loses.

A very Voyager Story 👍

A very interesting story that maintains a solid star trek feel. the singular reason for not giving 5 stars all around is the LGBTQ forced aspects of the story pushing that agenda in an otherwise excellent story. the narration was very well done. if you enjoy star trek then it is likely that you will enjoy this book even with its annoying LGBTQ parts that feel out of place and forced as if added solely to push the idea that we need to just all accept this as perfectly normal. Honestly, I would have enjoyed the book far more had these parts been omitted.

Nice to visit the crew, but not enough sci-fi.

Nice to visit the Voyager crew again, but there just was not enough sci-fi amidst all the cliche post-2k dogma ( sorry, trying not to objectify a people group by their age). One or two other reviews mentioned that it felt a little bit like a soap opera; must admit, I had to agree. That being said, I did enjoy the actual Trek story & characters.
