Publisher's Summary

The epic and highly anticipated conclusion to the listener-favorite series that had countless Audible listeners (and employees) hooked from the very first Bob—featuring, as always, a flawless performance from the inimitable Ray Porter.

Being a sentient spaceship really should be more fun. But after spreading out through space for almost a century, Bob and his clones just can't stay out of trouble.

They've created enough colonies so humanity shouldn't go extinct. But political squabbles have a bad habit of dying hard, and the Brazilian probes are still trying to take out the competition. And the Bobs have picked a fight with an older, more powerful species with a large appetite and a short temper.

Still stinging from getting their collective butts kicked in their first encounter with the Others, the Bobs now face the prospect of a decisive final battle to defend Earth and its colonies. But the Bobs are less disciplined than a herd of cats, and some of the younger copies are more concerned with their own local problems than defeating the Others.

Yet salvation may come from an unlikely source. A couple of eighth-generation Bobs have found something out in deep space. All it will take to save the Earth and perhaps all of humanity is for them to get it to Sol - unless the Others arrive first.

Clean ending to a fantastic series

Note: Early readers need to redownload to get the complete book!!
I thoroughly enjoyed this book. As with any series ending, you always wish there was more, and this book didn't feel as complete as the others, but was still a great read. The conflicts that arose were varied, and exposes the depths of humanity's desire for power and self interest. They were not as complex as in the previous two books, and the resolution came about a bit easy at times, but it didn't take away my enjoyment. Besides, we wanted to get to the battle with the Others anyway. Again, it was over a bit too quickly, but definitely gives you a sense of finality. The only minor sticking point is the Medeiros story line doesn't feel as complete. There are some real emotional highs and lows in this book I don't want to come close to spoiling. Overall a great end to a fantastic series.

Ray Porter's performance is amazing.

Do not read this book without finishing the previous two.

Great ending to the trilogy.

Plus the story ended with plenty of room for more stories from the bobiverse... or other verses like it.

Satisfying End to a Fun Series

It took a while for this one to get going for me but by the end of it I felt completely satisfied. Taylor wraps up all the loose ends and gives fitting endings to all of the characters. In keeping with the other 2 books, this one kept the balance of humor, pop culture references, heartfelt moments, and action. Ray Porter continues to show why he is one of the best in the business. I look forward to his future works.

I hope that this is the ending. Not because I'm glad it is over but rather I would hate to see it be brought back and have the conclusion tainted. The subjective nature of the ending is something that my friends and I are continuing to discuss and that is what makes a great story.

Excellent

One of the most well written and excellently narrated sci-fi stories of all time. The subtle and pleasing pop culture references blended with some real forward looking tech, rounds out one of the most humanistic protagonists you'll ever encounter. It's a celebration of what is the best and possible of humanity. Don't even think about it. Just buy it and enjoy.

Couldn't put it down

Great ending to the Bob series. I was completely entertained from start to finish. Nothing too heavy or too gory, but definitely not adolescent either. I appreciate the balance in this series.

Mistake was made and corrected

My initial assumption was correct - the recording came without the last hour/14 chapters, but now it contains the full book. You just have to redownload it. If Audible can contact early buyers they should do so, because it would be a great shame if they wouldn't be able to experience a proper closure to this great series.

Loitering in the stone age and missing opportunity

I really liked the first book, was a touch underwhelmed by the second book and hate myself for disliking the third.

I am sad to say that I have found this third instalment very superficial in that it gave the impression of simply typing up all the loose ends to close the series and introducing no interesting or new concepts. What's more I found a lot of characters and thought processes unrealistic.

The others were building a dyson sphere in the book 2 and I half expected this to be about Matrioshka brain of the others versus parallel computing of the Bob, but all it came down to was just a big old fight with nukes and lasers and I felt that it was a missed opportunity to make the story thought-provoking like a culture novel would. The fact that the others were barely even mentioned until chapter 63 was another irritant in my opinion. Instead, this sc-fi novel lingered for at least four times as long as it needed to on the stone age deltans.

Lastly, I have spent an unreasonably large amount of effort to not just stop listening when the colony council decided to attack one of Bob's clones in an effort to retain their power over the colony, after having been warned and dismissing Bob's objections and concerns and after Brigitte's daughter has done everything possible to annoy the Bob clone.

BOB! the God-like AI that controls weapons, food and everyone alive owes their life to! If It were me, I would let it go taxidermist on my mother if it felt like it, but apparently in the Bobiverse, everyone and their dog are happy to just underestimate and dismiss the all-powerful being, with neither respect, gratitude, awe, nor fear motivating them to at least taking heed to Bob's input.

I did once again tear up at the funeral scene however, but I think that speaks more about y being a mellow wreck of a person with age, more than anything.

I am very sorry, but I did not like this book.

An excellent way to finish

All loose ends neatly tied up. Leaving you wanting more but allowing you to complete in your imagination. Worried about the length don't be, just enough

Best story series I've read since Wheel of Time

This is quirky, engaging, scientifically plausible in a way so many stories fail to deliver, has enough shiny references to star trek and science fiction franchises to make a big bang theory or Firefly fan very very happy, and manages miraculously to make a lot of Bob's individually personalised and uniquely geek-qualified. Didn't bugger up the ending either...satisfying closure, very well written, very well read.

Another fantastic continuation of the Bobiverse!

Loved It? Absolutely!

Narration? on point as always. Despite all being Bob's, the differences in the narrator's voices, and inflections, are incredibly well done!

All I can say is I've enjoyed all three Bobiverse books so much, I put the series in my top 10. I hope this is not the end of them. I want to hear more about their adventures and how the Bobiverse, and bobnet expands.

A fitting but weak conclusion

Not sure why, but I didn't enjoy this book as much as the previous offerings. I really wanted an engrossing encounter with the Others and the Medeiros probes. Instead it was a little touchy feely relationships saga which didn't interest me as much. At least I have the conclusion ?

Bittersweet end

my previous review, if it's still around, was based on a copy which had not downloaded correctly so was missing about 20 chapters. no wonder it seemed abrupt.

This book mostly wraps up the threads introduced in the last two and my there are a lot of threads and Bobs to keep track of. A nice ending to an enjoyable series.

Well done Dennis, at least you finished it.

Dennis E Taylor has grown tired of writing these books.

Old characters were destroyed and never replaced, new locations and events seldom developed and all rushed towards the conclusion of this series.

Dude has a strong work ethic, and must use SCRUM or something. I've never read a book that felt like labour, devoid of passion like this.

What a rotten way to end a wonderful, fresh series. Typical American BS too, just blow everything up and then pop some Champaign to celebrate.

F this book.

Brilliance

This trilogy of books has had me so entertained I couldn’t leave my car as I would have to turn it of. If these books were made into a movie then Star Wars and Star Trek will have to move over.
I couldn’t be more satisfied.

A somewhat realistic outcome for the future of the human race. An important story to hear for this reason. Really impressive narration as well.

Good nerdy scifi, ordinary work of fiction

It's great if you're a big geek like I am, but it's not particularly well written fiction. The plot isn't extraordinarily exciting or complex and has its holes, a lot of the events are just not convincing, and the descriptive work is a bit light on adjectives. Also if you're actually a scientists you'll notice a lot of hit and miss. Sometimes you'll be impressed, other times you'll cringe.

All in all an enjoyable read but there are better options out there.

What a journey.

An incredible saga that needs to be experienced. Narrator does a wonderful job of bringing the characters to life. I need more to this story. I also had the issue of the audiobook finishing mid chapter and an easy deletion and redownload of the book fixed it, thank god.

great books

Nice amount of sci-fi jargon with a well placed conclusion to the story.
had a problem with download as a big piece of the end was missing originally and for some reason the end credits still ran but it turned up in a second downloading.
Assume that is the publisher's problem.

A Wonderful End

It was a such a delight listening to the conclusion to the big build up to the war with the others.
