Publisher's summary

As a child Chris Hooper dreamed of monsters. But in deep space, he found only darkness and isolation. Then, on planet LV178, he and his fellow miners discovered a storm-scoured, sand-blasted hell - and trimonite, the hardest material known to man.

When a shuttle crashes into the mining ship Marion, the miners learn that there was more than trimonite deep in the caverns. There was evil, hibernating - and waiting for suitable prey. Hoop and his associates uncover a nest of Xenomorphs, and hell takes on a new meaning. Quickly they discover that their only hope lies with the unlikeliest of saviors....

Ellen Ripley, the last human survivor of the salvage ship Nostromo.

Good story

I've listened to the audio drama version and this audiobook. There is differences in the story. But I'm glad I've heard this. It's a great drama and I think that bringing in Ripley was unnecessary but I liked out how it fitted in the alien movies timeline.
Recommend it to listen to this and the drama version as well

Great story set in Alien Universe

You might think that at some point movies from the 'Alien' franchise somehow lost it, and thus I was very sceptical when I was buying this title. Luckily, book writers seem to do better jobs these days than screenwriters, and this is a worthwhile addition for any 'Alien' fan. The narrator is good, his voice is well matched with the whole thing. What makes it even better is that there are 2 more books that follow this one. I really liked it.

pretty cool buuuuut.

it's a good story but doesn't seem to have the gravity and feeling of horror that the films and comics inspired. Bit still an ok listen.

Interesting story, annoying narrarator

The narrator takes you out of the story often. A bouncy up and down form of narration is hard to get over. The best bet was to play at 1.3x speed.

Good Story Very Good Performance, Except

The performer was fantastic except when voicing Ellen Ridley, the most critical character sounded like a school-aged girl.
It’s a Good story that almost rolls Alien and Aliens into one (without colonial marines). Don’t be scared by that. It works.

excellent listen!

I am a big fan of the alien movies and never thought to check for audio books of the series. this book in particular fills in the time gab between the first and second Alien movie. I am looking forward to listening to the rest of the audio books.

An interesting bridge between Alien and Aliens

I really enjoyed this. It was enjoyable and suspenseful, and feels right at home in the series. The best part is seeing how they managed to integrate this into the timeline, and I found it very satisfying.

It's not where your It's how you get there !

Was put onto this Story by a wonderful friend and lover of Alien. Even though followers of the motion picture saga know the eventual outcome , the story is an excellent weaving of plots and subplots interjected into the Alien story before the beginning scenes of Aliens . I hold the second film as my favorite of the first three. The author does an excellent job of getting the listener invested early in the story. With having the Sigourney Weaver films so well made and acted my imagination immediately took seeing the characters as a matter of fact, and that includes Jonesie . Also Ashes' homage to a previous SyFy classic with his ending remarks, "Will I Dream" was priceless!

A Very Good Audible exclusive..
