The alien/human/predator war continues

The 2nd installment of the rage war continues to develop the various relationships between the allies as well as reveals more of the rage and their methods, and purpose. The story is well written and the tale has a lot of depth. I have a four on the story only because of the fact that if you have read the other alien and predator books that have been printed before you will see a very large difference in the level of action as well as the variance in strength and skill of the various species between this series and the other stories.

More like those old school dark horse novels

Great continuation! It's great when books are willing to kill off characters right when you think they are okay.

wrong narrator hired. ..

narrator's voice portrayed strong male characters with an effeminate taint. ..this was annoying and distracting

How many characters did you count?

Great story overall. The main issue I had was the amount of characters and back stories that were introduced. I believe the narrator had issues also, .because all the voices sounded the same.

Stakes Are Raised in Thrilling Chapter

The stakes are upped substantially in this second edition of the Rage War. Some of our heroes have survived only to face new challenges and new nightmares. Others meet their ends. This taut, tense thriller keeps throwing twists and turns. The weaponized Aliens are a formidable fighting force and terrifying. Humanity has hope and the company still attempts to profit from the situation. The end book of the trilogy should be exciting! While the book itself is exciting, the narration is good, not great. John Chancer doesn't give a lot of emotion and his pace is much slower. Unlike most of my synced audiobooks, it was faster for me to read than listen to.

The Rage Are Coming!

Like a satellite in a decaying orbit I felt pulled back to this series despite my misgivings over the first book. I’m obviously more tuned in now because I really, really enjoyed this one. It’s classic space opera with much action and some truly macabre moments. The scene in the drainage tunnel of the Alien ship is particularly gut wrenching – you’ll know the one when you get to it! It’s scenes like that which capture some of the claustrophobic tension of the early Alien films and really raised this book up to a five star billing.

The misgivings that I mentioned reviewing the previous book didn’t completely go away but, and I have to admit this, they really didn’t stop me enjoying this one at all. The narration of the female characters seemed to pick up a little and now that I am more used to the role of the monsters I’m getting into it. The back story works well and the plot is very fast-moving with lots and lots of action.

Of course this is a series so we’re kept waiting for the conclusion until the final part. Don’t let that put you off, there is lots of action in this and the plot does develop at a cracking pace. There are a few new characters who add to the depth of the story and develop additional sub-plots of their own. We are left at the end with everything perfectly poised for a final cataclysmic war to decide humanity's fate.

So, despite my misgivings I think this is a cracker of a sci-fi action book and I shall certainly be completing this series!

gripping!

Great to know the Alien saga is in such capable hands. Tim Lebbon is a wonderful storyteller and takes these stories as seriously as any of his other works. As I say it's "gripping"!

Excellent

A great story. Brilliantly narrated. I've always been fascinated by the Alien story since my encounter with Ridley Scot's terrifying movie as a twelve year old.

Does what it says on the label

All very clear, no surprises, you get what you expect from the title. If you enjoy this genre then you will enjoy this. Even if it is not your usual fare then it is a sound, enjoyable listen.
It is my second listen in the series but doubt I will bother with a third, been there and don't feel the need to go again

Enthralling, and weaves the story around its characters like a web.

This is a long reaching involved story written by a writer who has mastered his craft.

The characters are well written and believable and the story so engaging I just lost myself in it. I got jumpy at every outside noise expecting a xenomorph to pop out of the shadows - now that's immersed!

.....and now, book 3

Get ready for round 3!

Fast paced sequel with bits reminding me of Blade Runner (really wanted to hear more of the Android's story). The big battle is yet to come, but already this is a well thought out Sci-fi saga 5hat would make an excellent TV series.
