Publisher's summary

In the third installment of the Girl Genius novels, Agatha H. and the Voice of the Castle begins as Agatha Heterodyne returns to her ancestral home, the warped little town of Mechanicsburg. There she must claim her inheritance by convincing the artificial intelligence that animates her family's castle that she is, in fact, the new Heterodyne. But this apparently simple task is made complicated in several ways: An imposter claiming to be the legitimate heir appears. The Empire is convinced that Agatha is the person responsible for the Long War (and to be fair, they are not entirely incorrect). And, worst of all, the Castle itself is insane.

From the Hugo Award-winning Girl Genius online comics comes this third book in the Agatha H. trilogy; and just like the first two, Agatha H. and the Voice of the Castle will grab you from the first chapter and not let go!

Good Humor but the story arc drags

just like in the comic while the humor is often good and spot on, the actual story arc is bloated and drags. this audiobook doesn't even finish it, where the castle heterodyne arc presumably finishing in the next novel

The Comedy continues!

What made the experience of listening to Agatha H. and the Voice of the Castle the most enjoyable?

The writing adapted for a prose novel and the performance of the narrator. Her voice has managed to capture the comedy and the CRAZY that is part of the Girl Genius web comic and translated it perfectly to audio book format. In fact I'd advice anyone who has only read the book to get this in addition. Also any who reads the comic should listen to this book to see how their favorite characters are performed by this talented narrator.

What did you like best about this story?

The different voices and accents the author managed to put in for each voice as well as the passion with which she perfoms their vocalizations.

What about Angela Dawe’s performance did you like?

I think I mentions that above but I will be looking into other perfomances if she was this good for what I imagine is a hard cast of characters to vocalize.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

When Agatha loses her mind for a minute but is brought back by her feelings for two people whose lives are in danger.

Any additional comments?

Mr and Mrs. Folio please write the next prose novel soon so the next audiobook of this can come out.

best yet, are you sure this is a kids book?

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

yes, I don't want them to stop. so funny. yet I can see the action in my head. the insane people running around making things.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Agatha H. and the Voice of the Castle?

when they all are working together to put the mean lady robot back together. out of love.

What does Angela Dawe bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

the voices just play. she make you see them.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

when the cat is wiping his feet not licking them... and when asked why he just asked if they had looked at the floor. it just "floored" me.

Any additional comments?

When is the next one coming out. :)

Very Enjoyable Listen

New parameter for my reviews, long enough for a credit. Terrific performance, though the sheer number of characters made unique portrayal difficult. Enjoyable, complex, slapstick and consistently megalomaniacal dialog kept me listening.

Always a good time.

I can't wait for the next installment. light, clever, fun, and satisfying. Maybe we get to see the Foglio's "Myth" series covered to audio book format...

More Please!

Agatha is a great female protagonist! She's intelligent, stands up for herself, and doesn't let other people push her around! She is also sweet and kind-hearted. I also like that you even end up liking most of the "villains."

Uh, where the heck is book 4?

Would you consider the audio edition of Agatha H. and the Voice of the Castle to be better than the print version?

What you don't know is that there is an online comic. For free... And yes I bought this also. I guess it depends on your aesthetic tastes.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Agatha H. and the Voice of the Castle?

What? Well ok. Spoilerville. The coffeemaker. That's all I'm going to say. (laughs to self)

Which character – as performed by Angela Dawe – was your favorite?

The Castle

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

Adventure, comedic bathos, battles, thievery, and a lot of sneaking around. That's just the first ten minutes.

Any additional comments?

Finally an adventure with a female lead. She's smart, sometimes too smart. She'll make you laugh. Monsters!
