Publisher's Summary

Danny Walker's survival retreat has been devastated by violence since the detonation of the EMP. A megalomaniacal warlord has stepped in to fill the vacuum of authority left by the utter collapse of society. Regent Schlusser's designs on absolute power have already brought him to Danny's doorstep once, leaving a trail of blood and heartbreak in his wake. Another conflict with the malicious dictator will spell certain death for the remaining members of the compound.

Danny's only hope is to infiltrate Schlusser's camp and bring him down from the inside. It's a risky proposition. If he is caught, he'll be executed as a spy, but there is no other alternative.

In this epic struggle between good and evil, Danny's mettle will be tested, his faith will be tried, and he'll have to dig deep for the courage to continue.

    "Great Book, Well Performed"

The entire series is excellent! Can't wait for next installment! This was book 3, with another one promised. Others by author are just as great.

    "Mark Goodwin does it again!"

Mark delivers a terrific sequel in the Seven Cows series. If you read the first two books, this third one will not disappoint. And as always, Kevin Pierce delivers the book with excellence. A real pleasure.

    "Great continuation in the series"
What did you like best about this story?

What I liked best about the series is a sense of realism or hardship. Many dystopian novels are to neat. "A Hunt for Jackals" illustrates how not everything goes as planned or is as easy as you think it will be.

    "Beans and Rice"

I've put a few beans and rice on Mark's plate.....love listening to his books. My son in law was in the 101 st Airborne at that time. It kinda messed him up ( listen to the end )

    "Amazing book!"

Not only am I an amateur prepper, I am also a Christian. Mr. Goodwin provides great visual and spiritual insight in all of his books, but especially A Haunt for Jackals.
Not only has it encouraged me to reorganize my prepping, but my spiritual life as well.

    "Fantastic Series"

Love the authors use of scripture in this series. It's contextually relevant without being preachy.

    "Good conclusion to the series"

The book ended the series well with the right amount of action, introduction to new characters (and some previous ones as well) and end of other characters.

The author once again strays away from the all too often used 'happy ending for everyone'. Characters die that you don't want to and mistakes are made that will frustrate you. The mistakes are not criticism, but rather the author being able to keep his characters true to themselves. This book is about 2 or so months post "event" so most people wouldn't change their fundamental selves in that short amount of time (something I see happening in other books of this genre). The main character is still too overprotective of his wife, many of the characters are stubborn in their ways and thinking, and the minor characters aren't taken to the extreme (example is one non-named girl is kind without being overboard and one male subject is a jerk without being borderline psycho).

For those not sure about the first book based on the biblical aspects, book 2 begins to stray from it and book 3 has almost completely set it aside. All in all, this was a good series and I enjoyed it.
