Publisher's Summary

From the author of Bound and Unwound - a novella in the New York Times bestselling Mastered series.

When Amery Hardwick first met martial arts master Ronin Black, she wasn't ready for the level of his sensual artistry - or his need for extreme control. Nor was she prepared for the primal urges it released in her. Amery and Ronin were made for each other.

When they married they were certain their future would be a fulfilling journey of love and passion. But happily ever after is never so simple. Six months later, while in Japan, Ronin is training with his sensei, while Amery is consumed by her own burgeoning career - and a culture shock with which she is struggling to adapt.

Now, from the heady pleasures of Tokyo bondage houses to the unyielding family traditions pulsing with every beat of Ronin's heart, Amery and Ronin find the limits of their relationship tested once again, and shocked to discover what they're willing to do in order to save it.

Includes a preview of Unraveled, the upcoming novel in the Mastered series.

Perfect Addition!!

This short novella was the perfect addition to Amery and Ronin's story. It's tells of their journey through Japan and overcoming some issues neither one thought they had. It was a great glimpse into their lives together and hints at their hopes for the future.

The narration was great! Yet again, there is nothing remotely bad that I can say about anything to do with this book!

A wonderful novella

Six months after their wedding, Amery and Ronin head to Japan so that Ronin can study with his martial arts master. While there, Amery sees how taxing the training is on Ronin and feels neglected. However, she is also introduced to the Sensei's brother, who is a rope master, they forge a relationship where Amery is the student.

I loved the interactions between Ronin and Amery and how Amery is determined to be her own person in the face of Ronin's wealthy family.

During their time in Japan it seems as their bounds grew stronger even as Ronin's training became harder. Both had breakthroughs as to their sense of how their lives intersect with the martial arts and rope play.

LOVED the book and can't wait for the next full length novel in the Mastered series.

Too short and sweet, for my liking

To be real honest, it’s truly rare that I enjoy a novella, especially one as short as this one. As with so many other novellas, this novella just gives you a glimpse of what the story could have been. For example, Avery is first introduced to Ronin’s Grandfather, in this story, but she only has one short interaction, with him. She also spends a week with his mother, one on one, and the reader/listener does not get to experience a single event of that week. Probably the most disappointing is that Ronin and Avery make huge breakthrough in their relationship, at the end of the novella, and this experience is not even described; what an oversight. This novella was available through the Romance/Escape Package, otherwise I would have just skipped it; it wasn’t credit worthy. -V from Kansas

Great shortened book

Make sure to listen to Bound first as this book goes off the first 2 books in the series. Great storyline and continuation.

Unnecessary

This book was pointless in my opinion.. If you don’t read it/listen. No worries you won’t miss anything.

The Fluffy Whip On Top

I know it's a novella but I guess I was missing the main piece of the pie so to speak. It was in a strange location and the only conflict was loneliness which was expected for Amery.

Can I have a Ronin too?

I liked this story. Both main characters were great, the story is good and the circle of secondary characters is strong. Decent narration, although I would have preferred if Luke Daniels kept to the male characters and Rachel Vivette kept to the females. I kept hearing Oberon (Luke Daniels - Iron Druid stories)!!!! which I love, but that didn't fit here so it was a touch distracting. I've gotten all the books in the series - this one was good enough to draw me in to hear more.

Yum.

This was a delectable series and introduced one of my favorite couples. Ronin and Amery came to life in these stories both in the writing and in the expert performances by Luke and Rachel. Thank you for this series which I will undoubtedly listen to again and again. C. S.
