She can’t imagine a more fulfilling dream than caring for and being surrounded by animals. Story
To say Sheriff Natalie Strand is shocked that Sarah Eastman, the girl who kissed her at a high school party, is back in town would be a huge understatement. Between Sarah’s return and a stray dog that gets the best of her, Natalie’s world is suddenly turned upside down. They say you can’t go home again, but that’s exactly what Sarah does when she returns to Oregon to live with her aunt and uncle after her divorce. All she wants is peace and to ensure her daughter, Harley, has stability. Seeing Natalie again after 17 years ignites a passion that she hasn’t felt in a long time.

Nico is a Rapist
I hated this book. I stopped listening in at Chapter 18 after Nico had sex with a woman is was lying to and deceiving. In my book, that is rape and not at all romantic. Plus, Nico was overall a spoiled child who talked about working a lot but hardly ever worked and was somehow a rich artist who had never had a show. That is completely unrealistic. I mean romance books are often unrealistic but Nico's angst and her story line are too unrealistic and if you do believe them, they still do not manufacture any sympathy about the problems of a supposedly rich, spoiled, self absorbed white woman with no ethics. I mean, my God, she couldn't even ask if the woman wanted to ride her motorcycle before just showing up expecting her to swoon. Nico was much too sexist in my book - I am butch, I am not sexist. This book might as well have been about straight people because Nico was written as a sexist, macho idiot man.

I Want Chocolate! And Nico
This is a modern day romance where Nico, the first person POV character, sees a woman who rides her train (only on Thursdays), but is too nervous to approach her. The woman always smells sweet , like chocolate or caramel or other sweet sugary smells. The woman ends up a customer at Nico's packaging/recycling company and assumes Nico works in the warehouse. Nico doesn't correct her - thus ensues a story of a little white lie that grows and snowballs into something out of control.
The characters are wonderful and realistic. Nico is flawed, Sophia is a borderline ice queen. Their romance is adorable and the sex scenes hot. Happy ending, great story.

A Treasure
Nico is a wonderfully fresh and flawed main character who seems to be part charmer and part train wreck. While you cheer for her hopes with Sophia you also cringe as you watch Nico stick her foot in her mouth. The supporting characters, a true strength of Kris’s work, are delightful in their emotional honesty and provide such a contrast to Nico’s crisis of conscience. What I really love about this story is that all the angst comes from the choices of one character rather than some outside settings or circumstance. The journey is a front row seat to falling in love, feeling the heat, flames that burn, love through art, and the art of love.

Wish I could return it
The main character is just not like able. Very self centered and lies and manipulates the whole time. Also, it's clear the author visited Chicago... and either went to Vosges or just smelled the chocolate factory and was inspired by that… but man so many things they got wrong. Made it hard to enjoy. The narrator isn't my favorite but not bad if the story is good but maaaan this story was not good and felt like it just dragged on and on.

...day by day, chocolate by chocolate...
Imagine seeing an attractive woman you like once a week, Thursday (favourite day too 😜✌), for several minutes never gathering up the courage to speak to her? Oh wait, I have.
Their first encounter was not as expected. Nico using her position in the company to get closer to Sophia whilst learning the proper technique of a chocolatier. I don't care what anyone says that is dedication. Nico also helps promote Sophia’s business to friends and family. How can she possibly feel as joke or experiment? What would be the hypothesis? “If I help her get more clients she'll date me? “ No, for that to be a reasonable option Nico would have to brag that she is soliciting business. And she is much too cool and a genuine person to do that.
Sophia's feelings are understandable and validated but to me Nico was saying and doing everything she could, with the exception of a lie by omission. At the same time upon getting to know Sophia it should have been a bit more obvious to Nico that Sophia is the complete opposite of her former lovers; she purchased her own home and vehicle and came up with an additional concept to save her business.
With so much going on in the world and the struggle to find the correct partner, why split up over something that would have been revealed? Because the information did not come from the person you are dating? Yeah, I can understand that. Seeing how it’s quite embarrassing at the moment, but at the same time, she would not felt that mad or upset if she did not actually love her. Communication and compromise is everything in a relationship. With Sophia and Nico they both needed each other, and were able to pick up the pieces and mend the scars on each heart from previous relationships.
“Only love, life, and laughter from here on out. “
P.S. excuse me, Ms. Bryant, I think one more sensory novel is needed, or in my case, requested. There isn't one for sight.

Another Great Kris Bryant Audiobook!
As always, Kris Bryant and Brittni Pope deliver! Even though I read the book description and knew Nikko was going to pretend to be a regular person instead of a business owner and up and coming artist... even though, once Nikko and Sofia started to hang out, I knew Nikko wasn't going to tell her she's rich, but, good god, she dragged it out so long. I was stressing about it ha kept wondering how Sofia was going to find out and lose her shit. The drama helped to make the ending happier, so I shouldn't sort of complain. loved the book!
