AWESOME QUALITY AND DYNAMICS

Would you listen to Scarred again? Why?

Yes I would listen again, I like ups and downs of the story. It's not so straight forward and the tempo changes a few times.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Larry is my favorite character. He's the only character who seems like he's got a good head on his shoulders.

Which scene was your favorite?

Larry and Dom together at the bar.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

No.

Any additional comments?

I was pleasantly surprised by the way this book flowed and was read. It wasn't narrated or scripted like a traditional audiobook. Every character was unique and distinguishable (even the one liners) which made it very easy, and enjoyable to tell what was going on at all times.

SMH... *SPOILER ALERT*

THIS BOOK WAS HARD TO FINISH! I'm not sure if it is the narrator, the story, or both!!! This "love" story is STRANGE, the main character "fell in love" with a girl who he had little to no REAL communication with. They go on ONE date, that was super awkward, and then all of sudden some guy pops up and she has a boyfriend... HUH?????????????????????

THEN... something happens, and BOOM she in love with the main character... WHAT?????????????? She has held on to her virginity for 20+ years, and she decides to give to someone within a couple months... WWWWWWOOOOOOOOOOOOWWWWWWWWWWWWW...

I finished this book, but only because I am running out of books to listen to in the Escape Package and I listen to get me through my work day. I'm going to ATTEMPT to listen to the other books in the series because a bad narrator will RUIN a book, and MAYBE that's what happened with this one... We will see.

Terrible narration and story

I just couldn't get into this book. The narration was terrible and the story was ever worse! The one HUGE piece of advice I have for this author is if she is going to write for a male character, she really needs to consult with a man on how they speak because her male character talks like a woman. Also, the narrator sounds like a black man pretending to be Italian while speaking Ebonics. I was looking forward so starting a series, but its a no for me with Anderson Brothers.

Scarred by Marie Long

Sacarred by Marie Long

The Anderson Brothers book 1. New adult contemporary romance.
Bars, nightclubs, tshirts with logos and on-night hookups. Angsty male voice written in present tense. Crude. Lots of references to T&A.

Narrated by Levar Ross who had a rough, flat dialog. Mid East coast. Not really pleasant to listen to but definitely representative of the male characters.

Neither new adult nor male 20ish perspective are in my line of preferences.
I read this as part of a reading challenge. I doubt I would read the author again if it fits these two categories.

Scarred

The storyline is a great concept. I just feel like it was rushed. When overcoming a difficult past I do not expect the characters to get together after one very awkward date. If Dom is slow to love and trust,I don't see him falling that fast for Denise.

Cute

This is a cute story. It made me reminisce of my college days. It would have been nice if sometimes the story was told from Denises perspective as well, but overall it was a good read. I will read the next book in the series.

Dominic and Denise

Marie Long has created characters that are interesting, and a storyline that is a bit scattered, but interesting. I really liked Dominic and his old fashioned ways. I felt some areas of the story could have been more streamlined and cohesive, but the just of the story was good.

Levar Ross did well with the narration.

Not enough detail.

This was a 3.5 star book for me. I felt like it was rushed and there was more to the story that could of been a lot better and emotional. The storyline was good however I feel the execution wasn’t quite right.

Scarred

Although I enjoyed this book, the constant self esteem issues was hard to hear as it seemed too repetitive and the insta love was almost too rushed after what was going on. Don’t get me wrong, I love insta love stories but this one just didn’t pull me in as I had hoped.

Great Narration!

I'm not sure if it was the dialogue or character development, but something felt missing. Perhaps, if a few scenes were to be revised, it would be an enjoyable story. The narration by Levar Ross is excellent. His reading was clear, precise, and I liked his voice and accent.

I was given a free copy of this audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this unbiased review.

FANTASTIC NARRATOR!! Awful story.

I am STRUGGLING with a review for this book. The amount of misogyny in this made me want to vomit. I tried to keep going and I did for awhile but then I just had enough.

My struggle is I was given this audiobook for a review and Levar Ross has such a freaking yummy voice. Soon as this book started, I was like YES!! Until he started reading these words and then I was like noooooooooooooo. STOP! Don’t ruin this voice for me. 😭😭😭
