Story
A mummified corpse, over half a century old, is found in the cellar of an abandoned building in a remote New Mexico ghost town. Corrie Swanson is assigned what seems to her a throwaway case: to ID the body and determine cause of death. She brings archaeologist Nora Kelly to excavate the body and lend her expertise to the investigation, and together they uncover something unexpected and shocking: the deceased apparently died in agony, in a fetal position, skin coming off in sheets, with a rictus of horror frozen on his face. Hidden on the corpse lies a 16th-century Spanish gold cross.

Publisher's Summary
Among the names on the target list, one stands out. An enigmatic Marine named Shane Schofield, call-sign: Scarecrow.
Schofield is plunged into a headlong race around the world, pursued by a fearsome collection of international bounty hunters, including the 'Black Knight,' a notoriously ruthless hunter who seems intent on eliminating only Schofield. The race is on and the pace is frantic as Schofield fights for survival, in the process unveiling a vast international conspiracy and the terrible reason why he cannot, under any circumstances, be allowed to live.
He led his men into hell in Ice Station. He protected the President against all odds in Area 7.This time it's different. Because this time Scarecrow is the target.
Critic Reviews
"Third installment in the way, way over-the-top action adventures of U.S. Marine Shane 'Scarecrow' Schofield, and the best yet from this Australian author...Immensely entertaining." (Kirkus)
"High-octane adventure....Narrator Sowers is in perfect synch with Reilly's storytelling....Those who like their adventures fast and furious will not be disappointed by this entertaining production." (Publishers Weekly)

Non stop action and destruction
Captain Shane Schofield's pattern of leaving a wake of destruction behind continues in this third scarecrow novel. From the opening scene to the last scentence Scarecrow is one big thrill ride. Hang on and enjoy! Even if you haven't read the other books in the series this book stands on it's own. It's one of the best books I have listened to in a long time.

A Wild Ride
A fantastic writer and a great book. Even more exciting listening to it, the pace and action are non-stop. Buy this audible book and listen to it now. The narrator does a great job with the material. Of course, I would have prefered an unabridged version, but was more than satisfied with the abridgement. Waiting for the other Reilly books (unabridged hopefully) to appear on Audible.

Very Exciting
Reilly, is quickly becoming my absolute favorite writer. His characters are comic book heros. The story is non-stop excitement, to the point where you can not stop listening because there is always some sort of cliff hanger. If you want a true ACTION story, this is the story for you.

My mistake in buying
I bought this book on a recommendation from my brother. I really tried to get through it but it was simply so far out there with reality that I felt it was wasting my time. When I tried to return it - Audible would not take it back. I don't know why - and the guy I talked did not know either. He said I would be contacted - that NEVER happened. I have 299 books in my library and I think I have only returned a couple.
Very poor customer service and my gut feel is this won't make it in the reviews - then Ill post it to my facebook page (I have almost 5,000 friends)
