Publisher's Summary

She never wanted him.

Ruined by scandal, Claudia Akford survived years of marriage to a cruel brute. Widowed, she is determined to regain her standing in society, but Lord Shillington personifies temptation. Kind and gentle, yet masculine and sinfully handsome, he would make the perfect lover, but he wants more than she is willing to give.

He needed her.

While Henry Shillington knows a little of the beautiful but notorious Lady Claudia Akford, he is struck by her kindhearted, accomplished, and witty demeanor. The more time he spends in her company, the more he dreams of a future with her. But the lady resists his honorable overtures, and a mistress will never do for him.

Can two wary people overcome past hurts, an old scandal, and social strictures to embrace true love?

Wonderful!

Claudia was married to an older cruel man. When she went back into the circles of London's society, she threw herself into Julian's arms. She had found that he had already married. Along came Henry and the sparks began to fly! Great listen and story.

Scandalous Redemption

Amanda Mariel just keeps getting better. This is another great addition to the series. The story is fun, entertaining and flows wonderfully! I love that Lady Grace is meddling again. She is a favorite character for me from this series!! Henry is so proper and noble! And poor Claudia can't catch a break! Great read or listen!

A nice, sweet regency romance

Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?

Yes, I would recommend this book to any of my friends who like sweet, historical romance.

How would you have changed the story to make it more enjoyable?

The story is a nice romance but I think I would have liked a bit more drama in the story or for there to be a bit of suspense or intrigue.
At just over 4 hours long, the story makes for perfect listening if you want to complete a story in one go.

Did the narration match the pace of the story?

Yes, the narration for the story was good and easy to listen to.

Any additional comments?

I received a copy in exchange for my honest review.

Happily ever after can happen

Amanda has written another engaging story of two people fighting within themselves to find what neither thought was possible. The story had a nice flow with longing till the end. This story does end with a HEA. I loved the narrator who kept me engaged with this story.

Ever been hurt by love

A story of old loves that hurt and new love that they are afraid to embrace. Will they embrace it or keep running away from it. The narrator Anne Marie Damman did a great job narrating this book. This book was given to me for free at my request and I provided a voluntary review.

A Sweet Historical Romance

When Claudia Akford's abusive husband passes away, she revels in her freedom and promises to never marry again. Her new widowhood grants her an independence she never had before. When she meets Henry Shillington, she's instantly attracted to him and offers to become his lover, but never his wife. Henry falls immediately for Claudia, but can't imagine taking her as his mistress. Henry needs to convince Claudia of his love and loyalty, before he loses her forever.

This was a sweet mostly clean romance that could be read as a standalone. I liked that Henry was a somewhat shy man who wasn't an experienced rake. Claudia was a confident woman who went after what she wanted. They were a great combo. The narration was well done and immersed me in the story, with separate character voices. I do plan on reading the rest of the series.
