Caroline Calloway
Caroline Calloway is the viral storyteller who helped define the modern influencer era – an online legend whose life became one of the internet's most captivating sagas. Her voice isn't just distinctive – it is the culture she helped create. In Scammer: The Director's Cut, Caroline Calloway shares with you exactly how it is in her fabulously chaotic mind.
'The Director's Cut of the Scammer audiobook is an internet invention that's the first of its kind. And like all of my best breakthroughs it takes the existing framework of online culture we already know and love, and innovates.
This is an audio product unlike anything else that takes the linear narrative of a traditional audiobook and combines it with the conversational digressions of an unscripted podcast.
It's all of the plot and prose you love from Scammer plus all the behind the scenes secrets about what I cut and what I wish I had included and – honestly? Also whatever the f*** was top of mind that day I went into the recording studio. Buckle up, b***h! This is one bumpy, decadent, delicious audiobook ride.'

Why?
“Scammer: The Director’s Cut,” is the very first of its kind: an innovative audiobook experiment, “MTV Unplugged” style. There’s nothing else like this out there, PERIOD.
Name one audiobook in which an author, brave and bare, intimately shares the inspiration/stumbling blocks/frustration/consequences of what they’ve written, chapter by chapter. I’ll wait.
In the wake of such a powerful, unique experience Caroline Calloway provided, Audible should create a special category of audiobooks.
Christen it “Unplugged,” “Director’s Cut,” whatever. Have it comprised solely of authors willing to provide chapter-by-chapter analysis of their work.
It’s a front seat, up close, raw and daring. Calloway opens up to the audience in equal parts confessional/masterclass memoir writing.
Without condescension, the Author shares (with genuine energy and enthusiasm) what she experienced/enjoyed/suffered/learned before, during and after each chapter.
The laughter, the wincing (at some of the technical structure of her sentences), the earnestness (of what she intended to convey), coupled with her own verdict (were intended goals achieved)? Fascinating.
To me, her sincerity rang true. It felt absolutely honest. Unflinching. Hilarious, and, ultimately, bittersweet in her candid analysis.
I’m not interested in skewering her life choices/personality. I just appreciate Calloway’s willingness to share her creative process with us, and wonder if other writers have the guts to follow her lead.
What a wonderful opportunity. TAKE THIS THRILL RIDE.
