Publisher's summary

Warning: This book contains graphic violence, sex, and explicit language. It also contains specific references to Heaven, Hell, angels, demons, and God Himself (and not necessarily what is considered true and accepted). Some of the content may be considered offensive to some listeners.

This is an introductory novella to the Keepers of Hell Series and does contain a cliffhanger.

Ash had promised himself into servitude with a demon when he was only a child. He spent his life killing for the demon, and he was good at his job. It was the only way to ensure the safety of his sister. When a brush with death brings Dr. Elizabeth Rone into his life, things change. The demon wants her dead. And for Ash, that's a deal-breaker.

He never killed an innocent soul. Not only was she innocent, but she made him feel things he had thought he was incapable of.

With a demon hell-bent on her demise, will Ash be her savior, or will she be the one saving him?

Becoming an Angel!

Wow....I absolutely LOVE this story. I've never listened to anything written by author Danielle James until now. She now has a fan of her stories. This story was fantastic and it took my breath away. This is a great introduction to the Keepers of Hell series. I can't wait for the second story. The author is extremely talented and she has a gift to write a story that's perfect. It draws the readers/listeners in immediately and make you love the characters as well. I won't go into details because this is a story you must read/listen to for yourself. The story is rather short but I normally wouldn't say this but it's worth a credit or the money to purchase this well thought of, amazing story. The story is filled with demons, details of Hell, images of heaven, mystery, and even some much heated romance along the way. Authors all try to take a different approach when they write about heaven and hell but James is unique and she opens open different possibilities on the way others might imagine the two to be.

The narrator, Miles Taylor did an excellent job with the telling of this story. This is the first time I've listened to anything by this narrator but I'll be looking for more of Miles work. Miles really brought this story to life so well, I pictured it all in my mind. I was able to identify each character from their accents that Taylor gave them. Overall, this is a 5 star rating, I only wish it had been longer. This is a wonderful story, you should definitely get it today. You have nothing to lose but a great story to gain. This is a story that I highly recommend. I received this audio in exchange for an honest review.

I really like Ash!

Where does Savior rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

I listen to A LOT of books...it doesn't make my top ten, but I enjoyed it...and will definitely continue the series!

What other book might you compare Savior to and why?

It kind of reminded me of Richelle Mead's Georgina Kincaid series...definitely that vibe!

What does Miles Taylor bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

He is a decent narrator, he is good for male voices, his female voices are not great...he is definitely not in touch with his feminine side...lol But pleasant to listen to!

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

The end...Ash has a great heart!!!

Any additional comments?

I was given a free copy of this book, in exchange for an honest review....and I did like it! Ash is an interesting character that I definitely want to know more about! I think this series has great potential and cant waif to see where it goes...From demon hunter servitude to angel...that is something cool...Ash is also unselfish and decent in a bad boy sort of way that makes you want to know him...its always those dark and mysterious types that suck a girl in and leave you wanting more....I will continue this series....and this story is well worth a listen!

Great New Series!

Any additional comments?

This is the first book in The Keeper of Hell series by Danielle James and narrated by Miles Taylor. When Ash was a child he promised himself into servitude to a demon to protect his sister. He has spent his life killing for that demon. When he is told to kill Dr. Elizabeth Rone, he refuses because she is innocent and he has never killed an innocent soul and isn’t going to start with her. When he sees Elizabeth he also can’t fight the feelings he feels for her.

The narrator Miles Taylor, did a great job, and was very easy to listen too. This is the first time I have listened to this narrator, and I am looking forward to listening to more books by him. He did a great job with the different characters and their voices.

If you are looking for a great paranormal book with great characters, then you need to get this book! I am looking forwarded to listening to the next book in series.

A Review copy was provided to me in exchange for a fair and honest review. The free book held no determination on my personal review.

A twisted story of honor and love of family

Would you consider the audio edition of Savior to be better than the print version?

Have you listened to any of Miles Taylor’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

I have not.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

yes!

Any additional comments?

What a Women Wants

Would you listen to Savior again? Why?

Yes I love storys like this!

What did you like best about this story?

Ash

What does Miles Taylor bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

His deep voice sets the tone of who you picture Ash to be. A serious demon killer and a seriously hot lover! Yum!

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

When Ash finally falls in love. You know a guy like that wouldn't just fall for anyone and would protect her to a fault. I think we all want a guy like Ash.

Any additional comments?

I fell in love with the main character Ash. As a little boy he endured a horrible tragic child hood. He made a deal with a demon to save his sister the last of his family. About 20 years later he is now a trainer demon killer. He is very good at his job and that is what keeps his sister safe from the same demon that killed his family. The only part of the agreement he requested as part of the deal is he would not kill any innocents.

The author did a really great job getting me interested in the story line with Ash starting the story in the middle of a job. She explains Ash's life for us and the where and why Ash is who he is. I really liked knowing who Ash is and why. He loves his sister to a fault but falls in love with a Dr. Elizabeth Rone. The Dr. thinks she is going to hell for something she had done as a little girl. The demon tried to convince Ash that she was not an innocent and he has to take care of business. Ash's love for the Dr. makes him take an extra look at the Dr. life. What he finds does not surprise him. Just how he decided to handle what the demon wants does.
I really loved this audio book. It is on my list of books I want to read again but only after I get a chance to read/listen to the next books in the series. I let my husband listen to the sample and he was hooked also. I thought this was cute since Miles deep voice gave me the super hots for Ash. LOL Love it!
Miles Taylor was amazing as the narrotar. He voice was a perfect fit for Ash. He some how put a picture in my mind of Ash that made me think hot hot stuff.
I did not feel like the ending was a cliffhanger though. Ash came in did his job. Saved his sister. Got the girl and they were in love by the end. Just what I would want out of a book that is less than 4 hours long. All I can say is you won't be sorry you found Danielle James new Series!

Explicit for language and sexual content

What made the experience of listening to Savior the most enjoyable?

The story was quick to pull you in and the narration was great. I liked how Miles read the story to me and didn't try to overly do a woman's voice.

What did you like best about this story?

The story is fast paced and you are right there with the main character Ash. Danielle James does a superb job of pulling you in quickly and where you don't want to stop listening with Miles' narration.

What about Miles Taylor’s performance did you like?

He just read the story so well. Sometimes it's hard to think about a female author and a male narrator, but with the main character being male it was that much better.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

I did not take a look at anything about the book, so in notating that the language is explicit so I would put a R rating on the audio for the book.

There was definitely a lot of potential

Savior is the first novella in a series called Keepers of Hell by Danielle James. Ash is a slave to a demon and he has been from when he was an elementary school. When his parents were murdered by this demon and the demon turned on Ash’ sister, Ash stepped forward to protect her. The demon then offered Ash a job. He gave Ash the opportunity to work for him and in return the demon would not murdered Ash’ sister. Not knowing what he was signing up for, Ash accepts. Now, Ash is beholden to this demon and must do what he is told. Enter Elisabeth, a trauma surgeon. Never expecting to have any personal life, Ash is taken aback by his attraction for his doctor. Now, he must figure out how to balance his bargain with the demon with his unquenchable attraction to Elisabeth.

Unfortunately, I didn’t enjoy this novella for many reasons. There was definitely a lot of potential, but I think the story needed further development. The broad strokes of the plot are interesting and even have the potential to be unique. The relationship between Ash, demons, and God is a twist on a common topic. But, I would've liked more details, which could've perhaps been introduced with more characters. However, I was really looking for a stronger plot in both the romance and urban fantasy aspect of the novel. I especially didn’t like the romance because to me it felt forced. It seemed abrupt and before the reader gets to know the characters they are lusting after one another. There was a lot of physical attraction with little mental connection between the two characters. The urban fantasy aspect was interesting, but there wasn’t really much detail given to the reader and so when Ash enters the demon world, it didn’t feel vivid. Ultimately, I felt that the world building was not as strong as it could’ve been. Further, the end of the novella is a twist and a cliffhanger, which can be frustrating. Overall, I think the short length was a detriment to the story.  With a longer novel, the world building and character development could have been stronger.

The narration by Miles Taylor was okay. However, I didn’t think his voicing of the different characters was dynamic enough, which could’ve helped characterize them a little more. The production quality was good. I would recommend this novella to someone who likes quick fixes for heavy anticipation and romance in an urban fantasy world.
