Publisher's summary

A savior lies in the heart of every good man, but sometimes only love can awaken the man inside the savior.

The world’s had it out for San Francisco firefighter Mace Crawford from the moment he was born. Rescued from a horrific home life and dragged through an uncaring foster system, he’s dedicated his life to saving people, including the men he calls his brothers. As second in command of their knitted-together clan, Mace guides his younger siblings, helps out at 415 Ink, the family tattoo shop, and most of all, makes sure the brothers don’t discover his darkest secrets.

It’s a lonely life with one big problem - he’s sworn off love, and Rob Claussen, one of 415 Ink’s tattoo artists, has gotten under his skin in the worst way possible.

Mace’s world is too tight, too controlled to let Rob into his life, much less his heart, but the brash Filipino inker is there every time Mace turns around. He can’t let Rob in without shaking the foundations of the life he’s built, but when an evil from his past resurfaces, Mace is forced to choose between protecting his lies and saving the man he’s too scared to love.

Savior, 415 Ink book 2

Starting this book, I didn’t think there was any way it could be better than book one. But, boy was I wrong. Every part of this book was Awesome. I loved the characters and the plot, storyline. It had conflict and drama and angst, but just the right amount of everything, nothing was too drawn out or overdone. We get the perfect amount of character development and communication between the two main characters Mace and Rob. And the chemistry and heat is off the charts HOT. The two men fit perfectly together and I loved that Mace was able to find the other half of himself in Rob. With every horrible thing Mace has gone through in life leading up to the point in the story, he fully deserves every moment of happiness he gets in life. Rob is awesome, I really liked getting to know his character and background. Knowing and seeing that he was willing to do whatever was needed to look past Mace’s rough edges, to see all his insecurities and still try to help Mace overcome them, just shows how perfect Rob was for Mace. I totally connected with Mace and his need to run. Knowing his thoughts and feelings behind it and his reasoning, really made me fall in love with him. I just wanted him to be happy. He’s one of those characters you wish you could just jump into the book and hug to try and make everything they have to deal with in life better. And make him realized that he is really a lot stronger as a person than he thinks and believes he is. Mace’s dad needs to rot in Hell, he is a horrible human being who deserves worse than death for what he put Mace and others through.

I LOVE this whole entire family, how they bond together and stick by each other no matter what happens. I need more of this series ASAP. Like, I will be holding my breath waiting on book three. I really hope its Ivo’s book and that he ends up with the cop… Ivo has the best personality and we’ve only gotten snippets of him so far. I really can’t wait for more.

Audio - Tristan James did great. I really liked his take on these guys and I’m glad the Author stuck with him narrating this book as well as the first one. I enjoyed listening to this book almost as much as I loved reading it the first time around. There were however, a few words that might have just been a different regional pronunciation from what I am used to, but to me they sounded a little odd compared to how they were written into the book. But, that was easily overlooked by how much I loved this story. I’m still really looking forward to Ivo’s book too.

Okay Rhys Ford...Okay

I thought since I never completed the first book in the series (just didn’t care for it) that I would have such a hard time immersing into book two. However, I was completely wrong! Rhys Ford does an excellent job of catching you up on the story; in book 1 you’ve missed, while not taking away from the main character. And OH BOY is Mace Crawford one hell of a main character! In typical Ford fashion our story ends in happy ever after fashion which is great, but this story does cover hard topics before we get there so trigger warning for child abuse.

Disappointed

The book was fine for the most part. More drama than I prefer, but ok. I’ve enjoyed Tristan James’ narrations in the past, but this one, not so much. His narrative reading was fine, but when a character was talking, it was a varying blend of Sly Stallone, Clint Eastwood, & John Wayne, which distracted me to the point that I frequently lost track of the story, or had trouble keeping my eyes on the road, they were rolling so hard.

Exceptional

Rhys hit it out of the ball park. Mason's dad got what he deserved. Tristan was magical to listen too, can't wait to listen to the rest of the series especially Bear's voice

enjoyed it

Would I listen to it again: if I was in the mood for Tristan James
Did the story keep me engaged: mostly
Was I invested in the characters: reasonably

📖 Story comment: easy pace and likeable characters, but a hard story.
Mace and Rob are a good fit and I enjoyed their story. Another difficult childhood and lurking demons reinforces the importance of the brothers "found family" and true love can ease the way, saving you from your past.

On a side note - I loved the cameo appearance of the Morgan's and Crossroads Gin guys!

🎧 Narrator comment: I enjoy Tristan James as a narrator, and go through phases where he's all I listen too. His smooth even tones are just what the ragged edges of my soul need.

📌 Where does it fall on my personal scale? 6
Mace's backstory is heart breaking and his story left me feeling melancholy, I'll listen to it again if I'm in the mood for Tristan James, but at the moment - I think once is enough.

Wonderful

Tristan did an amazing job on this audio. I loved listening to it just as much as I love reading the ebook the first time.

Grit and Determination

After reading Rebel, the first book in the 415 Ink Series, I was a little wary of getting my hopes up. Rebel was a good story, but it had some story structure issues that made some of the book a bit tedious to read. To my relief, Savior was so much better and I enjoyed it far more than Rebel. Savior overlaps a little bit with Rebel, but it doesn’t feel like a repeat of the Rebel book. Savior can be read as a standalone, but it’s better to have the background that Rebel provides, in my opinion.

Mace and Rob are fantastic characters. I love their connection and how they got together and overcame some significant obstacles. The plot for Savior was way more intense and thrilling than Rebel, and I was on the edge of my seat. Rhys Ford is a very good writer, and her talent is easy to see throughout at this book. The plot pacing and writing style were very well done.

The narration was not the best I've heard from Tristan James, but it was still a fun listen.

Good continuation ok narration

The story was good and continued the series well but the narration needed some help the voices were a biot distracting for me and for me took away from the story at times. It could just be me though.

There's always hope for healing

I love a good, complex, meaty, well written story, with a satisfying ending that the characters have to work hard to get to … and I especially love a story that involves finding whatever way it takes to get to healing emotional wounds. This is a fabulously satisfying story.
