Publisher's summary

I’ve been in love with Jacob Blake since he the day he picked me up in his strong arms, holding me close. I was five years old. I spent my life chasing after him—trying to make him see I'm more than just his sister’s little friend. I never dreamed getting his attention would also destroy him. One night....

A night that held so much promise broke the man I love into so many pieces, I don’t know if he can be mended back together.

Or if he will even let me try.

This book does contain violence and may contain emotional triggers.

🖤 Extremely Dark, yet Beautiful, MC story 🖤

I love Jordan Marie’s MC books, but OMFG! Dancer (Jacob) and Carrie’s story is my favorite! This book is just so endearing, heartbreaking yet so beautiful! The pain, anguish, and the love they both have. It’s REAL and it’s RAW! It brought out more emotions in me than most books. This is definitely not for the faint of heart. We have Dancer (Jacob), a tortured soul, who is now out of prison. This big, bad tough Alpha Bikers pain is palpable. He tries to hide it. He thinks he’s weak for what happened to him in prison. He faces his demons every time he sleeps. He carries such shame with him, and cannot cope without losing himself in a bottle. Dancer is probably the most tortured character I’ve ever read in an MC book. He thinks he has a soul black as night and that he is the devil himself.
Then we have Carrie, a very innocent virgin , never been kissed or touched by a man before. She was sheltered most of her life. She has loved Jacob since she was a very young girl, an all-consuming love. She feels guilty because she is the reason he went to prison, by protecting her. She’s never given up on him. Jacob has always been the man for her. Jacob spews so much cruel and foul words to Carrie in the beginning, trying to push her away. He feels he doesn’t deserve her. He’s just so lost in a deep black hole that Carrie might not be able to pull him out of. Most books have a couple of deep emotional chapters, but this one?! Every single chapter is deep! While this story is packed with some somber issues, Jordan did not skip out on the VERY highly erotic scenes. Those were scorching hot. Kinky. Just how I like it!
Avery Caris and Joe Arden were the perfect narrator choices. Avery has the perfect tone and presence to fit Carrie’s innocent, young personality. She also portrays Carrie‘s backbone and persistence in helping to Saving Dancer. Her characters growth was believable. I love her! Joe Arden….what else can I say.. he went ALL IN! Talk about “going there”.. He sure as shit went there. This is one of his best performances as an extremely dark character. His voice is so intense EVERY SINGLE chapter. Joe delivered such an honest emotional performance that it almost hurts to hear all of the words that he voices.
Timothy Bell Reese does a very short chapter as Dragon, the MC Prez. Such an emotionally packed performance, that I flinched. Amazing.
This story has themes that might be triggers to some. Including rape, suicide, and severe anxiety/panic attacks. Please check Jordan Marie’s website for TW/CW

Joe!!!!!

My gawd his voice is heavenly! I totally enjoyed this book so much because of the way he can bring characters to life!! The pain and the hurt he places in his voice it’s fucking magic!

The story was gritty and rough but it was beautiful. Everyone deals with pain differently, it’s the people who stick around that make the pain less. I loved Jacob and Carries story, it was so achingly sad but also filled with so much hope!

A Beautiful Ending

Jacob/Dancer is a mess, after returning home from prison where he suffered tremendous by being physically abused and psychologically damaged by being raped. He was so fucked up and took his anger on many and more so on Carrie, the young woman that sent him to prison while defending her honor. A great story, liked the writer style, who's scenes were unapologetical. Loved these characters, particularly Carrie. Needeless to say the performances were great, incidentally, first time I litsened to Avery Caris and of course Joe was perfect!

Love this series!

I can’t love this series enough. I have read my way through the series and now I’m working my way through what’s available on Audible. The audible experience after reading makes it so much better! I hope I can listen to the others in the series soon!

Dancer's story is one of conflict. There is conflict on how he feels about his little sisters friend, Carrie. There is conflict in how far he will go to protect her and there is conflict on the lengths he will go to keep her at arms length.

Without spoilers, Dancer finds himself released from prison and returned to his MC life. He has experienced life on the inside without the protection of his MC, and has trouble adapting to life outside of prison and the events that led up to his incarceration. At all costs he keeping his previous life at bay, especially Carrie, his little sisters best friend. Dancer has to learn to live on the outside of prison, the brutality of what happened while incarcerated, and decide if life is worth living when Carrie refuses to give up on him despite how hard he pushes her away.
