Publisher's Summary

Britain's Brexit voters are right. They have been shamefully neglected. But the answer is to change Britain, not to leave Europe. This book sets out how we can radically improve the lives of people and communities shut out from prosperity.

The EU, despite its frailties and strains, is a success story.

The advantages of leaving are illusory: no gains in trade from deals with protectionist China, and the United States can compensate for what is being lost in Europe. Britain is weakening a pillar of the world's diplomatic and trade order at the same time as it's weakening itself - an act of self-harm, especially when so many countries are retreating from democracy, free trade and progressive values.

In Saving Britain Will Hutton and Andrew Adonis set out a bold plan to transform Britain and fight for Europe as a force for good at home and abroad.

Very interesting subject but performance poor

Very interesting subject that concerns a great number of people, not only the British. Therefore, due to the very poor reading performance, many non-British listeners must have struggled to understand the reader. Surprised that a well-versed reader was not hired for the job. A good RP actor/reader would have been preferred. However, the book is very well researched and well supported by facts and arguments.

To understand the U.K. future options this is a vital read

The authors look at the causes of Brexit including lax immigration control that could have been and still can be applied within the EU, the scandal of the current government of removing support grants for areas of high immigration and of course the London centric highly centralised non federal U.K. that has let the North collapse while the south prospers.

It also looks at how the U.K. could transform through stakeholder capitalism. Rather than right wing control or abolish to compete the dream of neo Thatcherisum were its a dog eat hog world for everyone except those with capital and wealth.

must read!

well researched and eye opening account of the consequences of Brexit and the chain of events that led to so many ill informed and misguided fools flushing us down the lavatory.
