Publisher's summary

Mysterious abductions. A shadowy government conspiracy. A deadly new threat. And love in a time of war....

Olivia, a former Marine turned investigative journalist, had thought her time serving in a combat zone had exposed her to the worst horrors imaginable. But when her younger sister Emily goes missing, she learns very quickly how wrong she was. Emily's trail leads Olivia to the Pacific Northwest, to a town called Black Salmon Falls, where she finds herself mixed up with a human trafficking ring, a dark military unit, and a world she never even knew existed.

Luca is the heir to the throne of the Langayan Clan, closest ally of the region's dominant clan, the Q'lapa, and the best friend of the Q'lapa Chief, Asher. When bears in the area begin to vanish without a trace, Asher dispatches Luca to look into it. What Luca finds is not what he expected and he uncovers a threat - the biggest threat the werebear clans in the Pacific Northwest have ever faced.

As Luca and Olivia race against time to find her sister, the forces arrayed against them mobilize for war, seeking to execute a plan that will take the Clans off the board - forever. As they discover and explore the spark that exists between them, they find themselves in the fight of their lives - a fight that may have fatal consequences for the combatants.

Saved by a Bear features a curvy redhead who is full of fire, sass, and sarcasm and a big, strapping werebear who is lethal, but has a heart of gold.

This book is a standalone, no cheating, no cliffhangers, and a guaranteed happy ending!

Sexy bear shifter? Yes please

While there's plenty of romance going on in this story, it's not just romance. The story deals with good and evil, prejudice and bias, and forgiveness and understanding.

The main characters Olivia and Luca are really good together and the story line is interesting and clever. I enjoyed listening to it and I'd listen to it again.

I haven't read book one yet but I didn't feel like I was missing much so this can be read as a standalone or as part of the series.

The narration was great, David has a lovely voice and he did a great job with the character voices and the delivery overall.

I received this book free from the narrator/publisher/author in exchange for an honest review.

Great Start

I got this ARC via audiobook boom. This book grabs you at the beginning, wrings you out then still does not let you go at the end. No cliffhanger a full twisted, plot-driven story. That has you rooting, cheering, sneering, laughing and then waiting for the next book. I have great praise for the author and narrator. I want me a Luca. The sex was there but did not take away from the story. Prejudice comes in all forms and this shows the extremes that some people will go to because someone is different from them. John actually killed his own daughter. How sick is that? I did not read the book because I like audiobooks better. The narrator made you feel the emotions. I actually had to stop listening in the car and wait until I got to a place to sit down and listen.

It's worth it

I was given this audiobook at no charge for an honest review.

I liked this story quite a bit. The only thing that probably would have been better is a different narrator. He was great, but since this story was from a woman's point of view, the majority of the time, it would have been better as a female or a combo of the two.

All in all, it is definitely a good story, and I definitely recommend it.

Great!

I really enjoyed this shifter book! I didn't read book one but wasn't lost with this story so I would definitely say this can be listened to without having listened to book 1 first. This is the kind of story that hooks you from the beginning and keeps you interested all the way through. Narration was great. Looking forward to listening to more books in this series.

Memorable, Endearing, and Heartfelt

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Yes, I would recommend this audio book to a friend because I loved the storyline. The romance was not front and center and that made the plot stronger and the romance even sweeter. Nothing was forced but allowed to develop naturally. It was beautiful, and I loved the intriguing characters that pulled you farther and farther into the story.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Saved by a Bear?

I loved the epilogue where Olivia and Luca let their hearts do all the talking while they opened themselves to each other completely not knowing the future and yet confident in how much the other meant to them. They no longer needed to fear but to feel loved and cherished and wanted forever.

What about David Quimby’s performance did you like?

David Quimby made me love these characters and showed me how amazing they are. He really highlighted their strengths and admire how they worked on their weaknesses. This was a fun and compelling media for this book, and I enjoyed it very much.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

When Luca opened his heart to Olivia even after she shot him with a traq, tied him up, and then put a silver collar on him. He saw in her a scared woman who needed to know that she had someone that she could count it no matter what. He put his own pride aside and stepped up for her.

Any additional comments?

This is a wonderful story with fabulous characters, and I can't wait to see what happens next!

enjoyable paranormal

My reason for picking this audiobook is not just the blurb, but the narrator's voice. Mr. Quimby's voice is warm and soothing, like a favourite blanket. Despite not hearing many variation 'voices' for the many characters, I enjoyed listening to his telling of the story. I will be checking out his other works for sure.

This paranormal story has a different take on finding a mate... yes, the chemistry is off the charts between Luca and Olivia, but not the focus of the story, a welcome change, and it progresses naturally to an HFN (Happy For Now) ending. Quite a journey for both of them working towards the same goal for different reasons. I like that Olivia is a kickass heroine who can take care of herself and happy that she found Luca who is warm, funny, loyal, protective. It reads well as a standalone, but I will go and check out book 1 too, Asher and Rose's story sounds good.
