  • Summary

  • Introducing Same Same but Tech, a podcast where the smartest people in the universe explain tech buzzwords, one analogy at a time. Featuring guests from Google Cloud, Microsoft HoloLens, Twitch, Gemini, CAA, Tor, Verizon, YouTube, x.ai, Paramount Pictures, ConsenSys, GIPHY, and more. Every week, we join host Mauhan M Zonoozy, a seasoned startup founder and angel investor, as he asks the brightest minds in tech to de-jargon the industry’s biggest buzzwords. The twist? We have our guests explain the technology using analogies. Sort of like a dictionary for tech, but quirkier and with a better soundtrack.

The podcast I never knew I needed

It's quite nostalgic thinking that it's been almost a year since I first heard this podcast. It is one of the things that kept me sane during the lockdown. In the liminal space we suddenly found ourselves in, it was hard imagining a way out of life's sudden unknowns. Then came SSBT and next thing I knew, I had moved on from my still-using-MS-Paint-in-my-30s self to someone who could tell you what the difference between MR and XR is, the story of the Silk Road, and the future of cryptocurrencies. Now, when my friends freak out that their phones are listening to them -- I just send them a link to one of the episodes that discuss this. Boom, now we know! At one point, I even felt at ease with the idea of self-driving cars and stopped panicking about AI as a threat. So many misconceptions clarified, and strangely enough, several very philosophical moments. You know what the best part is? I thought that these were topics reserved for computer experts like my little brother, but guess what --- I learned all of these as I was brushing my teeth, doing the laundry, or chopping some vegetables for dinner! Who would have thought that I could carry on conversations with my tech friends as I were one of them thanks to listening to Mauhan and his expert guests while hanging the laundry or folding the bedsheets?!? Although at one point, I couldn't multitask anymore. It was so interesting, I actually had to set aside some time to create sticky notes that I would move around so I could delve even deeper into the ideas presented. There goes my little review! Hope you enjoy and learn from these thoughtfully created podcasts as much as I did!
