Publisher's summary

From "one of the master storytellers of this or any age" (The Tampa Tribune) comes the stunning final adventure of "one of the most remarkable and appealing characters in current fiction" (The Virginian-Pilot) - as #1 New York Times best-selling author Dean Koontz brings the unforgettable odyssey of Odd Thomas to its dazzling conclusion.

Odd Thomas is back where it all started…because the time has come to finish it. Since he left his simple life in the small town of Pico Mundo, California, his journey has taken him to places strange and wonderful, mysterious and terrifying. Across the land, in the company of mortals and spirits alike, he has known kindness and cruelty, felt love and loss, saved lives and taken them - as he's borne witness to humanity's greatest good and darkest evil. Again and again, he has gone where he must and done what he had to do - for better or worse - with his courage and devotion sorely tested, and his soul forever changed. Every triumph has been hard won. Each sacrifice has taken its toll.

Now, whatever destiny drives him has finally steered his steps home, where those he cares for most surround him, the memory of his tragically lost true love haunts him, and one last challenge - vast and dreadful - awaits him. For Odd Thomas, born to serve a purpose far greater than himself, the wandering is done. Only the reckoning remains.

Another Winner

I've been a fan of Mr Koontz since Junior High. I've loved the Odd Thomas series since crying through my first book in 2005.

Great conclusion to the series! :D

4.5-5 stars

This was a great conclusion to the Odd Thomas series. This story takes place a couple months after Deeply Odd. Odd knew that some bad guys might be going after his hometown and a dream tells him it's time to head home. I loved seeing Odd back home and seeing his old friends. Of course the bad guys don't give much time for visiting and things get moving pretty much from the beginning of the story. The bad guys are planning something that will cause a huge amount of deaths and Odd has to move fast to try to head it off. He does manage to stop things but doesn't come out unscathed (but then we always knew he wouldn't if the Gypsy Mummy prediction was going to come true) but Odd does get his happy ending.

This was a great story and very moving (I'm still half in tears from the ending...which is a bit embarrassing because I'm at work right now). I love Odd's character and the secondary characters too because they add a lot to the story. This was a great ending to the series. I'd recommend both the book and the series. :)

The series ended in glorious Odd Thomas fashion. I absolutely loved this series and am already saddened by its ending. Thank you Dean Koontz, for the years we got to spend with Odd.

The narrator was great, as always!

How can you not love the stories?

I can't say anything about this story Widow wanting to give away everything about this story. Odd Thomas is like so many other literary characters I've met who feel as though they become friends as I learn about them. Much like Boo Radley from To Kill a Mockingbird I will never forget how much I enjoyed getting to know Odd Thomas! Do not start this book unless you have read all of the previous Odd Thomas novels because you will only be doing yourself a disservice! This 1 happened way too quickly and ended way too fast! That's only because it was such a wonderful story!

Wonderful

It’s rare that a series I have enjoyed as much as I’ve enjoyed Odd Thomas, ends in such a perfect way.

Oddly spectacular.

I have always loved the Odd Thomas series, this is a fantastic conclusion to it. Dean Koontz is a master of mystery and writing suspenseful story's, full of action and drama. credit also goes to David Aaron Baker who expertly captures the youthful and sorrowful qualities of Odd and many of the other characters.
