Nobody is born a Saint, you must earn that title and change in pronouns through great deeds, or by knowing the guy who does the Saint lists.

This is the legend of Saint Frank, and the great deeds he what did to earn that Sainthood, not born a Saint, in the beginning he was just, Frank, but not long after some stuff that took long, he became Sir. Frank.

Sir. Frank may or may not have slayed a Dragon, if he did then this is the Tale of how Sir. Frank became Saint Frank, and if he did not then this is the story of nearly a Saint Frank and a triumphant Dragon.

No one is born a saint—you earn that title through great deeds or by knowing the right person who writes the saintly lists. This is the tale of Saint Frank, who began simply as Frank, then—after a series of long and curious events—became Sir Frank. Whether he truly slew a dragon or merely came close, this is the story of how Sir Frank either achieved sainthood or became the almost-saint overshadowed by a very triumphant dragon.

Author Simon Carr delivers a witty and delightfully offbeat tale in Saint Frank and the Dragon, highlighting his talent for sharp humor, sly satire, and playful irreverence from the very start. His storytelling is clever, energetic, and wonderfully unpredictable as he crafts a tongue-in-cheek legend about Frank’s dubious path to near-sainthood—and perhaps, though not conclusively, slaying a dragon. Carr’s comedic timing is impeccable, offering laugh-out-loud moments, crisp dialogue, and absurd twists that keep the narrative lively and immensely entertaining. The tone remains spirited and uninhibited throughout, clearly reflecting the joy he poured into crafting this adventure. With his skillful blend of sarcasm, satire, and cultural lampooning—from religion to royalty—Carr delivers a rollicking story that many listeners are sure to enjoy.

Narrator Maxwell Zener is fantastic, bringing a vivid energy to the story that elevates every moment. It feels as though he’s tapped directly into the author’s imagination, knowing each character intimately and portraying them with precision. This is a book unquestionably enhanced by Zener’s performance, as his delivery amplifies both the humor and the heart of the narrative. His skill shines through in the many asides woven throughout the story, all handled with impeccable timing. He shifts seamlessly between characters while maintaining consistent, distinct voices, creating an experience that feels effortless and fully immersive.

This is an entertaining book that will keep you laughing and entertained!

Saint Frank and the Dragon by Simon Carr (edited by Rachel Crocker) is a witty, offbeat tale that had me laughing and leaning in from start to finish. Maxwell Zener’s narration brings Frank’s almost-Sainthood (and maybe dragon-slaying, maybe not) to life with perfect timing and charm. It’s a clever mix of humor and legend, proving that nobody is born a Saint—you have to earn it, or at least know the guy who makes the list.

A clever mix of humor and legend!

I was entertained by this story. There were so many instances where I laughed out loud or chuckled at the humorous incidences and dialogue. There were a few times where the story was a little too vulgar for my taste, but on the whole, it was unrestrained fun. I'm looking forward to the next book. I was amazed at Maxwell Zener's narration as his performance was entertaining and added to my enjoyment of the tale. I was given a copy of the audiobook. I volunteered, without financial gain, to post this review which reflected my honest opinions regarding this audiobook.
