Story
On a cold morning in October, 1987, Ohio State Patrol Officer Dan Walker finds an odd box on a quiet, county road. Twenty-five years later, in 2012, and more than 600 miles away, a young woman vanishes without a trace and another is found dead from what appears to be an overdose. In 2015, street-smart Lieutenant Kate Gazzara is suddenly transferred to the Cold Case Squad and assigned her first case. But as she painstakingly goes over the file she discovers a connection to all three incidents. Is there a serial killer on the loose, one who has been killing for almost three decades?

Story
It's almost midnight, bitterly cold and snowing, when a beautiful young girl, Tabitha Willard, throws herself off the Walnut Street Bridge into the icy waters of the Tennessee. Harry Starke is there, on the bridge. Wrong time, wrong place? Maybe. He tries but is unable to stop her. Thus begins a series of events and an investigation that involves a local United States congressman, a senior lady senator from Boston, a local crime boss, several very nasty individuals, sex, extortion, high finance, corruption, and three murders.

Story
On a balmy day in April 1863, Union Colonel Abel D. Streight, at the head of a brigade of federal infantry, set out on a 220-mile ride to destroy the Western and Atlantic railroad at Rome, Georgia. The most fascinating thing about the raid is that Streight's brigade of four infantry regiments, almost 1,800 soldiers, was mounted on mules, a huge problem in itself; few of his men had ever ridden a horse, let alone a mule.

Chickamauga is a story of the heroism, selflessness, and frailty of the men whose deeds are etched forever on the fields and forests at Chickamauga, the River of Death. Chickamauga is the story of the generals who planned the grand strategies that would be played out by lesser but braver men, and it's the story of heroism, desperate deeds, and death and destruction on a scale the like of which had never been seen before.

Story
She appeared out of nowhere. A chance meeting. And then she was gone, abducted. The shadow crossed in front of the car so fast I didn’t have time to stop. I hit the brakes hard and swerved into the mud at the side of the road. Looking out through the deluge it was difficult to make out the figure coming towards the driver’s window, but as it came closer I could see it was a girl, just a kid. Instinctively, my hand went for my gun and rested on the grip as she approached.

She calls herself Hope Miller, but she has no idea who she actually is. Fifteen years ago, she was found in a small New Jersey town thrown from an overturned vehicle, with no clue to her identity. Doctors assumed her amnesia was a temporary side effect of her injuries, but she never regained her memory. Hope eventually started a new life with a new name in a new town that welcomed her, yet always wondered what she may have left behind—or been running from. Now, she’s leaving New Jersey to start over once again.

Great Series
He was now a beggar, wet, miserable and hungry, a knife, an it would be over, or the dumpster. Yield nothing, a few minutes to shut his eyes, awaking to finding himself staring at eyeballs. Kate and her partner called out. interviewing T J, a war hero, but now he looks so lost, and hopelessness. What happened, he had it all, she asked. I know someone who could help. He wants nothing, if he hadn’t found the body, he would of been the body they found. So begins the case for Kate, what a ride we are in for, the pieces don’t want to come, a gut thought, and there has been more female bodies in surrounding areas. The man power, and days, add up. Kate is good, right to the end, we are taken, till it has a closer. The plot was tight with tension, you got to know the crew , readers will not be disappointed.

Nice murder mystery
This is a good murder mystery with a little humor thrown in. Kate is a strong female lead and detective who even has a great way to handle workplace sexual harassment. Characters were well developed as was the story line. It even showed that some detectives can burn out from the cases they handle. Good all around story.

Just a great Series (with a great narrator)
I know originally this was a spin off of the Harry Starke Novels. Well, that tie is certainly not needed anymore. This would be a great series if Harry never existed.
Kate and Lonnie make a great team in this one and solve a truly baffling cold case. Will be reading all the rest.

A entertaining murder mystery
Saffron is an entertaining murder mystery starring Lieutenant Kate Gazzara (who is also in the writer’s Harry Starke series). Kate is a great character and the story is really good too.
Contains sexual content and graphic violence.
The narrator of the audiobook is well suited to the character and does a terrific job.

When a young woman is found dead behind a local bar, Kate Gazzara is called on to begin an investigation that uncovers a string of brutal sexual assaults and murders while dealing with unwanted sexual overtures and the chauvinistic culture of a city police department.

Kate has a lot of exciting things happening!
I really enjoyed this story and Renee Maxwell did an excellent job bringing it to life. Not only does Kate have a very interesting case, with very few leads, she has some changes that she didn't see coming. I also found some of the places in the story were funny as Kate gets back at people who should know better than to get on her wrong side. You do need to be forewarned if you haven't listened to this series before there is profanity as Mr. Howard makes his books very true to life.
I received a free code from the publisher to listen to this book on Audible. This review is my own honest opinion.

not a bad story, but a bit simplistic at times. it all comes together very neatly in the ending, but it's not bad, and the narrator does an ok job
