Editorial reviews

Book 5 in the With Me series, Safe With Me, narrated with a lively coquettish lilt by Jennifer Mack and the booming hunky bravado of Eric Michael Summerer, is an erotic fantasy starring Brynna Vincent, the beautiful and threatened mother of two, and Caleb Montgomery, a hunky former Navy Seal who’s been assigned to protect Brynna from the bad guys intent on tracking her down.

Caleb does his best to keep Brynna distracted from the life-threatening situation. He keeps her busy. The two like to practice marathon athletic bedroom maneuvers together. If that sounds too vague...just have a listen. All marathon athletic bedroom maneuvers will be clearly described….in great detail. Yow!

Publisher's summary

Keeping others safe is what Caleb Montgomery does. He's never had a problem taking on an assignment, whether it was during his dangerous SEAL days or his most recent job of training war mercenaries. But being assigned to keep Brynna Vincent and her adorable daughters, Maddie and Josie, safe from an unknown threat has thrown Caleb off his axis. Hot for the tall brunette since she came back to town more than a year ago, being close to her day in and day out is cracking Caleb's resolve to keep his hands off her gorgeous body and his head in the mission.

Brynna is sick and tired of being afraid. All she wants is a normal, quiet life for her and her precious girls. Just as she's settling into her new home in Seattle and feeling safe again, Caleb shows up on her doorstep insisting the danger is as high as ever. But whether she needs to be sheltered from the threat in her past, or from the intense emotions she feels for the sexy, protective man sleeping in her home, remains to be seen. What will happen if Brynna and her girls fall in love with a man so broken he may not be able to protect them from the danger that threatens, much less himself?

Safe with Me is the fifth book in the With Me In Seattle series, and continues to follow this tight-knit, loving family through life's trials and tribulations with humor, passion and everlasting love.

Book Five in the With Me in Seattle series.

Okay, I'm going to be honest with you, I liked this book BUT it felt like it was lacking a few things. Don't get me wrong, the book has plenty of romance and the characters are well liked, the story is original & well written with a good pace. This is the 5th book in the series but it's the first audible has released. It can be treated as a stand alone but I occasionally felt a bit lost with the other secondary characters. Regardless, it doesn't hinder from story. This book is Brynn & Caleb's story which begins with Brynn being in danger after accidentally seeing the men that murdered her ex-husband. Unfortunately, not being able to provide a description of the suspects means that she doesn't qualify for the witness protection, this forces Brynn to count on the support of her family to keep her and her two twins daughters safe. That’s when Caleb enters, one of the hot bunch of Montgomery brothers and an ex-Navy SEAL, takes charge in his alpha male protective role to ensure that Brynna and her two girls, Maddie and Josie are safe from any threats. Caleb is gruff, fiercely protective of his family, has a dark/slightly tortured side, and hides a heart of gold behind a gruff exterior. It becomes obvious that Brynn & Caleb both want each other & have been wanting each other for a long time. The sexual tension and chemistry between Brynna and Caleb are off the charts. So, when they have to live together in the same house, things start to change and neither of them can really stop it. But soon Caleb's past military wounds become roadblocks in their future happiness. I found parts of this story lacked depth and we got short changed with the danger & suspense. Overall, I liked the story and it met with most of my romance novel requirements: a strong lead heroine, a HOT alpha male, humor and heart warming banter between characters, super hot sex (believe me when I say  there was no shortage of SEX scenes), and of course a happily ever after ending. It would have been nice if Audible had released the other 4 books in the series first.

✫✫ 4 Stars ✫✫

I enjoyed Caleb and Brynna's story but I will admit I wish we had gotten more of the last year and the way they struggled to keep things friendly. The relationship between Caleb and Brynna's twin girls was so sweet, it melted my heart. I was so happy that Caleb got help for his PTSD and realized he needed their family. I also enjoyed getting a little more info on Matt, can't wait for his story.

The narration was good as usual.

WTF

This lady should not be reading Audiobook. All I can focus on is her spit-sound when she talks.

Pretty good addition to the series :)

3.5-4 stars

This was a pretty good story. I liked Brynna and Caleb and their story was very good.

Brynna is the BFF of Stacy (the heroine from book #1.5 in the series) and was living out of town until a year before the start of the story. Brynna had been married to a cop but things didn't work out so they were divorced years before. When her ex was killed and it seemed like his murder might cause danger for Brynna and her twin daughters she decided it was time to move back home to Seattle and try to get on with her life.

Caleb is part of the Montgomery family. He used to be a Navy SEAL but left the service after a mission went wrong and Caleb was the only survivor. He now suffers from PTSD and sees himself as a damaged man that's not good enough for anyone. He hasn't gotten involved with any women but he's been very attracted to Brynna since she moved back to town.

When Brynna moved back to Seattle a year ago, she got a job that paid her under the table and rented a house from a friend so she didn't have a paper trail for anyone to use to find her. She's been keeping her head down and thinks that maybe she's ok since it's been a year and there's been no sign that anyone has been after her. Unfortunately, just around this time, Matt Montgomery (the cop of the family) gets some news that makes him think that someone may be after Brynna after all. It's decided that Caleb will move in with Brynna and her twin girls to make sure they're safe. There's been an attraction between Brynna and Caleb for a while but he's always tried to stay away from her. Now that they're under the same roof it's much harder for them to resist each other. Caleb starts running hot and cold on Brynna and she makes it clear that she's not happy about him giving her mixed signals and he'd better get his head on straight before he starts something.

Caleb knows he's damaged and is convinced that Brynna will never want him for good (or that he won't be able to stay with her for some unknown reason) so he wants to stay away from Brynna but can't. Soon things are developing between Brynna and Caleb and it's something very good. Caleb is also very good with Brynna's daughters and since Brynna is a good woman that loves her daughters deeply, seeing him be sweet and loving with them makes Brynna fall for Caleb even faster than normal. There's a little bit of conflict between Caleb and Brynna when it comes to his protection and the restrictions it causes Brynna and her daughters but it's not too bad. The relationship between Caleb and Brynna grows rather silently but strongly as time passes and I liked where things were heading. Unfortunately, Caleb has issues and lets these issues cause him to have a huge bout of relationship dumbassedness and he and Brynna split up for a while as a result. I was very disappointed with Caleb but he does (eventually) pull his head out of his lower orifices and make things right so that he, Brynna and the twins get their HEA together.

This was an enjoyable story. I really liked Brynna and her daughters. I liked Caleb too...except for during his bout of relationship dumbassedness. He made up for it but the whole thing kind of pissed me off. TBH, I might have given this story 5 stars but the whole conflict at the end disappointed me enough that it took it down for me. Of course some people like this kind of drama at the end so other people might find the conclusion of the story works better for them than it did for me. Still, once Caleb got his head on straight the story did end very nicely. Overall, this was a good addition to the series and I'd recommend it. :)

* note - This story was from both Brynna and Caleb's PoVs so there were 2 narrators, a female for the sections from Brynna's PoV and a male for the sections from Caleb's PoV. Both narrators did a very good job.

You must read the whole series

I started withe the first come away with me and the second fight with me. Nothing but sex on every other page. So irritating and took away from storyline. However as the series progresses more emphasis is give to the story land characters and less sex (now every five pages- maybe a bit exaggeration it's still there but not as overwhelming). Unfortunately you have to read all the series included the the first to books of porn. Lol. There are a lot and I mean a lot of characters in this series. So if you have adhd you might need to take notes. Sometimes I have to stop and stare up and say "no who is that again?" But all in all its a pretty nice fairytale like story. And trust me you are going to get tired of the men in this series constantly asking the women "are you alright" and the women begging these men to just "talk to me" I like reading so all in all I would take those hang ups any day over watching the garbage on tv now.

Female narration ruins it

Jennifer Mack needs some voice lessons. Honestly I couldn't listen past three chapters of her narration because it was so awful. Her pace is terrible and she mispronounced several words but the worst part was all the gross sounds she makes when talking and in between words. Ick. For goodness sakes drink some water. I normally like Kristen proby books but I couldn't listen any longer. Too bad because Eric summerer is quite good. If gross voices don't bother you then take a chance. If the do just read don't listen

Good enough

I liked this book better than the last book in the series Rock With Me, but less than the four books before that. I think I'll take a break from this series for awhile. I feel like all the books are kind of running together and I can't remember what happened in what book. Plus the author says the same things through different characters in different books, if that makes any sense. It all feels very repetitive.

A smart and sexy emotional read

Any additional comments?

Safe With Me is Filled with funny banter, hilarious antics, sweet twin girls who don’t know when to be quiet, blistering hot sexy times, and a hero and heroine who are evenly matched - this book had it all. It is a smart, Sexy read that i very much enjoyed. I hope more books in this series are released on Audible so i can get to know more about the other characters that were in this story.

Brynna was an amazing character. She is patient, kind and desperately wants to fight for the “more” she desires with Caleb. She sees how Caleb is with her daughters and believes deep in her heart that he feels the same way she does. She simply does not understand his hesitations. The strong emotional connection that Brynna develops with Caleb soon has him running scared. Is Brynna strong enough to withstand the fire? How much is she willing to fight for the man she has fallen for?

The female narrator is horrible!

Normally I wouldn’t say anything, but the female narrator does a horrible job. She constantly makes smacking noises and sounds like her mouth is in desperate need of water. It completely detracted from the story. I had to stop after two chapters and just read it myself.
