Publisher's summary

In the dark heart of our imagination, and the haunted corners our past there are places we fear to tread. As much as we might try to outrun them, as much as we might try to deny their truths, we are owned by their shape, molded by their claws. The story of our being, they form a Sacrum Umbra, a sacred shadow of improbable origin - our own dark heart.

Excellent

I’ve listened to and read so many collections of short stories but this is definitely one of the best.
The first 3 stories were the best. The shaman story was my favorite. I wish I could remember the names of all of the stories.
I will be looking for more by this author. I loved the originality. It felt like everything was a new concept even with well known stories.
The narrator, Paul Burt’s voice reminded me of Colman Domingo. He did an excellent job.

Not what I expected

The stories in this collection are a lot more erotic than I was expecting. I enjoyed the references to other popular tales even though they were taken to the extreme. Blood gore and sex. Reader beware.

Haunting

Well written and haunting stories with dark narration that aptly matched the tone of the varied stories. I particularly enjoyed "All That Remains" (Chapter 3) and "She Walks with Me" (Chapter 7).

Dark horror tales

Sacrum Umbra is a book.of dark gothic horror that will leave you questioning the shadows you are in the dark. The tales are graphic, creative and highly imaginative. The book is fast paced and well written. The deep rich voice of the narrator Paul Burt was perfect. I received this audio book at my request and I am voluntarily leaving an honest review.

Short Stories!

'Sacrum Umbra' was a neat little selection of short form horror stories. As would be expected, some stood out as better than others but all of them made for an interesting listen. My only complaint is that the description didn't make clear that this was a collection of short stories so I was unpleasantly surprised when the first short ended abruptly and a new one started. But if you're looking for a horror collection, this one would do! Paul Burt does a good job of narration.

One of the BEST short story collections ever!!

Sometimes I get frustrated when I get a books filled with short stories. A lot of the time there will be one story I love, a few more that are just OK, and some that bore me to death!! These short stories are all so good. And they were actually creepy (maybe not scary for me because books and movies never actually make me feel scared...I might be a sociopath with no feeling or something lol). I also really liked the narrators voice. He definitely made the stories sound more creepy! I totally recommend!

This book was given to me at my request. (Thanx Paul!) I am providing a voluntary review <3
