Whew. Am NOT a fan of “Virtual voice”

To the author: Your story was well paced and engaging. I think I like your characters. I say that because due to the AI reading of the book it made them one dimensional. It was difficult at times to understand who was actually speaking. Pay for the professional reader!! AI does not do justice to your characters!
To Audible: I don’t understand all the ins and outs of “Virtual Voice” but I do not believe Audiobooks should be supporting this. When I physically read a book, I “hear” the characters in my head and the author tells me the feelings that person has & I “hear” their voices & emotions in my head. When I listen to a book, the reader is voicing this information. AI doesn’t do that so there is a disconnect with the voice I am hearing and the words that are written. Don’t get me started on the mis-pronunciations! 🤦‍♀️. Just no. A human needs to read books on Audible. Period.

it was a good cozy mystery short story

Did not like the virtual voice. While the female voice was pleasant enough, the timing/pace was off.

Just so cliche

I thought the CG narration might be the worst part, but honestly I've listened to some live readers that weren't much better. Worse to me, the characters just all seem so cliche, with our heroic new resident dog whisperer just being so much smarter than everyone else in town, and jumping into crime solving and the perfect romance so quickly. All just too good to be remotely true, even for a cozy mystery. I've decided to give the rest of the series a miss.
