A BUNKER STOUT MYSTERY

Bunker Stout, orphaned at six when his mother goes missing, is forced to roam the mean streets of Memphis to feed his infant brother. He is saved by a police captain who arranges for him and his brother to go to foster homes. Bunker eventually becomes a decorated Marine sniper and a state police agent in Mississippi. Then one day his wife is killed in a violent carjacking. He loses his mind, his badge, and his friends. At the urging of his friend, Okaloosa County Sheriff Titus Desoto, Bunker moves to Fort Walton Beach, Florida, to hide from himself and the ghosts that haunt him. He becomes a private investigator working mundane cases to pay the bills until a wealthy woman knocks on his door one day to tell him that most of her family died under mysterious circumstances, her granddaughter has been kidnapped, and the hired men who went to find her never returned. The suspect is a man known as the Lord of Lower Alabama who crossed the U.S. Southern border with gang members and human traffickers to set up shop just north of Okaloosa County, Florida. After her visit, Retired Air Force Colonel Tom Wade brings Bunker a letter from his past and suddenly, the dam breaks and purpose and redemption rush into Bunker's life.

Great storyline

I Loved the book but I had to get used to the automatic reading I typically like books with a good narrator.

Thrilling story!

I loved this story, Mr Temple has a fast paced title threaded with sentiment and humor. Virtual voice felt like it was speaking a foreign language that I had to decipher and often made me laugh. I really wish Audible would swear off of virtual voice!! There are so many wonderful readers in the world! Please Audible? Please!!
