On the day Elvis Presley died in 1977, 21-year Wisconsin native, Susan Masino, was assigned to organize a meet and greet for an unknown Australian band by the name of AC/DC. She not only remained lifelong friends with the band, but was also inspired to write two books about AC/DC, becoming the first female to do so. Masino discusses everything from recent tour rumors, thoughts on Axl Rose, her own ‘Suzy’ name-drop in “Down Payment Blues” and even the ghost of Bon Scott.

I love how genuine and real Susan is and the fact that she was so young when she first experienced an up close and personal AC/DC. Can you imagine what an incredible experience that has been for them? Her and the band? Not only did she witness history being made but was in the thick of it and them having such a talented go getting journalists trying to help promote them when both sides were trying to make their mark in the world, still friends with such love and respect. I love it! I was born in 73 when the band started and have been a fan since I was 5 thanks to my much older brother and his friends and fixing to be 52 next month I still listen to them every day. Every single day. That band and especially Angus have made me laugh and stronger during very difficult times and my daughter who was raised on them and would always roll her eyes when quizzed about a song made my dream of finally seeing my favorite band live when she bought tickets so she could take me to see them in Arlington Tx April 14,2025. 2 days after she turned 23. It was a dream come true finally getting to see my Angus perform live. It was so wonderful and we had such a great time. She did freak out on me when I said omg he’s going to do it! She’s like “what”? He’s going to strip! She’s like “WHAT”! I stand up and yell take it off! She’s like “MOM”! No sit down!! 😂 Gotta love it. Unfortunately he didn’t though 😞😂. Thank you AC/DC Beyond the Thunder. Thank you Susan. As always I’m grateful for AC/DC and please will someone tell Angus that a in 1978 a 5 year old Texas girl was dancing to AC/DC in her room while the parents were away the siblings were having a party and she was supposed to be asleep and I still dance to them everyday 🥹 and Thank You for the music that made me confident and gave me “balls” enough to stand up and be a strong single Mom. 😘
