Pyaasa(1957) a perfect epitome of Gurudutt's poetic cinema, was a hit both critically and commercially. It won't be an overstatement to say that Pyaasa's music was loved and appreciated much more than it's story/script. But it was the musical team of Gurudutt who made this possible. Pyaasa's album had S.D. Burman as composer, Sahir Ludhianvi as Lyricist, and Mohammad Rafi, Geeta Dutt and Hemant Kumar as playback singers. No wonder the album was and is adored everywhere in India.
