Wow!

I think what I loved the most about this read was how singing was actually included in the story! I think it was a great addition to the production in addition to an exciting story line. Talk about thrilling and heart wrenching!

What an amazing start to a new series!!! I really tried hard to savor this, but I devoured it!! I’m in love with all things Eva and Rafe!!! The emotions in this...I’m not even sure where to start.

 “Maybe there’s a reason you’re both here, at this exact same time. Maybe he’s supposed to help you heal.”

Eva has already been through so much. Her best friend, Molly, is her biggest cheerleader and partner in crime. We ALL need a friend like her. Someone who loves us unconditionally and can kick us in butt when we need it.

“Rafe Hunter had swept into my life and obliterated all my walls.”

Rafe is the bassist for the rock band, Black Hearts, and OMG I think I’m in love 😍. Since this just the prelude of what’s to come, we don’t have alllll the things Rafe yet. But I’m dying to know more about him and the band. They have secrets, but who doesn’t?

My heart wants these two together. It won’t take NO for an answer. They are a match made in heaven. I can’t wait to see what the author has in store for us with this series!

This is one of the best rockstar romance reads that I have read so far...it may even be my favourite! I'm waiting so eagerly to read book one.

Country & Rock Intro!!!

Rush: The Beginning (Black Hearts Still Beat # 1) is the intro into this new series that is a rockstar romance with a bit of country thrown in. I love how this begins, we get the history and get to know who the key characters are. I love the music lyrics in a couple chapters giving it a realism effect. Intrigue encircles the pages as we just get a glimpse of the disheartened characters but only pieces of crumbs are given to you of why this is. A bit of angst swirling through the pages with off the charts chemistry between main mc's. Sweetness galore with fun & flirty banter. This novel is like a monsoon that is take by storm. I love the originality, writing style and the world building. This ends with a gripping cliffhanger. Looking forward to reading the next novel in this new rockstar romance series.

Narrator Sarah Puckett's flawless performance brings this rockstar romance to reality.. Her inflection was smooth and saccharine. I absolutely loved her singing in this audio. Just a stunning performance. Absolutely loved it

Love the new series

Amazing new start for a new series. Evangeline and Rafe story will take you on a beautiful, angst trip rockstar romance story. She gets into a music competition, there she meets Rafe, lead bassist for Black Hearts Still Beat and sparks not only fly, she remembers how to live again. I can't wait to see what Rise will bring us. This prequel totally blew my mind. A definitely must read for any rockstar romance fan. I love Sarah Puckett and how she portrayed each emotion of her character, it was amazing.

This is novella and an introduction in the Black Hearts Still Beat Series from L.A. Cotton. Rise and Rule should be coming soon. I loved this little novella. It didn't take long to listen too and you can probably do so in one siting. It was entertaining and will have you wanting the next two books right this second. So dive in. Have a listen and I hope you like it as much as I did

Excuse my pun...but what a RUSH!!! I couldn’t get enough of this book! An utterly gripping story, Eva and Rafe will keep you wanting more!!! I can tell that this is the beginning of an amazing series you won’t want to miss!

Loved!!!!

The first thing to mention is that there is actual music and signing in this audio book, which in my opinion makes this one worth 10 stars. L.A. Cotton beautifully writes this rockstar/country girl story. From their meeting, their chemistry, then her heartbreak. I usually don't like cliffhangers, but this one will have you anticipating the next book anxiously in a good way! Sarah does an outstanding job with the narrative!

Awesome listen and great start to the series!

This was a good listen and great start to a new series from L. A. Cotton. After overcoming a very serious illness, Eva is encouraged by her best friend to compete in a talent competition, and to try and get back to "normal life." During the competition, she sings and plays her guitar with passion and ease. Then, she and her best friend Molly meet Hudson and Rafe, two members of the band Black Hearts. The connection between Eva and Rafe is immediate, and it is clear that there is so much more to their budding relationship than just physical chemistry. But, it also seems like there is a bit of mystery in terms of the band and their lifestyle. Rafe and his troubled brother Levi have some secrets they seem to be hiding.

Sarah Puckett is a wonderful narrator, and as a special bonus, she sings in this audio. Yes, there is a guitar playing and she SINGS. It was so cool and a fun addition to the audiobook. Sarah can ring so many emotions out of you and take the material she is presented and just make it even better than it already was. I'm looking forward to seeing where L.A. Cotton will take us with this story.
