Action and intense suspense!

RUN AND HIDE starts a new series with a new protagonist by British author Alan McDermott. McDermott introduces CIA agent Eva Driscoll who is out for retribution for the death of her brother. The unlikely story is extremely fast paced and action packed. I really like McDermott's Alan Gray series; this one promises to be as good. I am not a fan of narrator Angela Dawe whose narration here is okay.

Mind Bending !!!

This is a must read! An absolutely great book with plenty of suspense, action and plot twists ! The characters were smart, strong and very appealing. I haven't read a novel this good in a long time. Hero's were launched and I'm looking forward to the next installment in this series.

A good & fast story

A good yarn if not very believable. Fun to read, a good thriller, it kept my attention. I am anxious to read the follow up.

Duty Honor Revenge

I love this narrator and with over 100 of her reads, I have seen Ms Dawe get better and better! Do not miss her Marcia Clark series, even reviewer Wayne liked it! Narrator maybe growing on him too. I do use the 1.25x speed often to match the authors intent, and his choice for Ms Dawe does not disappoint. Her accents are spot on and you are right there in England or Italy even for the short chapter. Her male voices are great, which is why I am a big fan. In fact, I did use 1x speed half way into this book so I did not miss any of the action, this one is packed with it. See Amazon book reviews for author testimonials! This book is a fast pace adventure with a heroine to cheer! For us ladies who did not have a big bother to watch out for us, and wanted one, this heroine sets a picture of a smart, determined and focused woman who does not have NO in her vocabulary. She defines ruthlessness! Would greatly appreciate Book #2 with Ms Dawe narrating to come soon, thank you Audible. Were my comments helpful? #Clever #Inspiring #Suspenseful #Tagsgiving #Sweepstakes

Wait for the TV series

Waste of a credit. Feels like it was written for an action series on TV. Poor writing, no character development, silly story, implausible outcome and obvious set up for a sequel.

Action packed female lead character!

I love a great strong badass lead female character. So this book was right up my ally. I liked it a lot. This is full of action, action and more action. I like Eva, I do hope we get some more background and character development in the next book, that did seem to be missing here. But it was still a great book. I also liked that this was NOT written in the 1st POV. Whew! I am looking forward to the next book. As for the narration, it was great. I like Angela Dawe these days she does a good job on giving all the characters their own distinctive voice and reads with emotion as called for.

Surprisingly very good!

I was hesitant to try this, as I am any new unknown but I’m thoroughly thrilled that I did! Being an action story you have to understand that it’s not reality, so if you like Jason Bourne then this should suit you well. Narration was superb! And really it’s narration that makes or breaks a lot of stories. Imagine a scary movie moment without the music-not so scary. Point being Ms. Dawe did an exceptional job, as I’ve found to be the case in other listens she’s narrated.

Average story, and the audio book was awful

I enjoyed the Tom Gray series; this was ok but not up to the same standard. The audible version is another matter. It seems that during his retirement, Tom Gray has turned into Dick Van Dyke! The accents are awful and ruined the audio book.

You reap what you sow in this killer thriller

Introducing Eva Driscoll, an ex-operative for the US government, who has gone rogue. Investigating her brother's death she quickly realises it was murder and seeks out his Special Forces team mates, saving Rees Colback from a hit and teaming up with him to help her find answers. Together they're determined to uncover why members of his Special Forces squad are dying in mysterious circumstances. They get caught in a web of intrigue and danger as they battle the top American power structures and corporate heads whose reach is global in directing the political directions of not just the US but other nations as well - all for profit and power. McDermott has written a fast action packed read with a strong and deadly female protagonist at the top of the lethal weapon game. The ending was a little staged to set this up as the first in a series, and was a little unsatisfactory and anticlimatic, but otherwise a good read. The audio performance was tense and dramatic, carrying the listener along at break neck speed.

Eva should be Evan

This book is a fast paced conspiracy thriller with a female protagonist, who really should just have been a man. Apart from Eva being described as smarter than the men in the story, her character and actions are the same as would be expected from the male characters, right down to the gruesome torture scene. It seems that the author is trying to cash in on the current trend for strong, smart, female lead characters, but fails here. In particular I found the descriptions of Eva's physical beauty gratuitous and clunky. So, let's change her name to Evan, and put this one in the category of books you buy at the airport.

couldn't finish it

The story seems quite good but the writing sometimes naiive and derivative. The woman reader's man voice sounds like Moleman or Marge's spinster sisters - for guys who are spies, agents, soldiers, killers!

Wow!

Not the sort of book I’d normally read but was stuck on every word. Exciting, good plot, characters described in a way that brought them to life . Loved it!
