For Will Innis and his daughter, Devlin, the loss was catastrophic. Every day for the past five years, they wonder where she is, if she is - Will's wife, Devlin's mother - because Rachael Innis vanished one night during an electrical storm on a lonely desert highway, and suspected of her death, Will took his daughter and fled. Greetings. There is a body buried on your property, covered in your blood. The unfortunate young lady's name is Rita Jones. In her jeans pocket you'll find a slip of paper with a phone number on it. Call that number. If I have not heard from you by 8:00 P.M., the police will receive an anonymous call. I'll tell them where Rita Jones is buried on your property, how you killed her, and where the murder weapon can be found in your house. (I do believe a paring knife is missing from your kitchen.)

Story
In the near future of Robert Charles Wilson's Last Year, the technology exists to open doorways into the past - but not our past, not exactly. Each "past" is effectively an alternate world, identical to ours but only up to the date on which we access it. And a given "past" can be reached only once. After a passageway is open, it's the only road to that particular past; once closed, it can't be reopened.

Publisher's Summary
Five days ago a rash of bizarre murders swept the country. Senseless. Brutal. Seemingly unconnected....
A cop walked into a nursing home and unloaded his weapons on elderly and staff alike. A mass of school shootings. Prison riots of unprecedented brutality. Mind-boggling acts of violence in every state.
Four Days Ago the murders increased ten-fold....
Three days ago the President addressed the nation and begged for calm and peace....
Two days ago the killers began to mobilize....
Yesterday all the power went out....
Tonight they’re reading the names of those to be killed on the Emergency Broadcast System. You are listening over the battery-powered radio on your kitchen table, and they’ve just read yours. Your name is Jack Colclough. You have a wife, a daughter, and a young son. You live in Albuquerque, New Mexico. People are coming to your house to kill you and your family. You don’t know why, but you don’t have time to think about that any more. You only have time to run!

Not for everyone but I enjoyed it
This book starts out with a bang and just keeps going along at a pretty rapid pace. Something affects people and the next thing you know they start killing each other for no apparent reason. The book follows Jack and his family who are trying to get to safety throughout the book. No one seems to know why the killing is going on but later on in the book we find out. I say the book isn't for everyone because of the violence in it which some people might be disturbed by. Jack and his family are traveling from New Mexico, heading north toward Canada in hopes of finding safety. Along the way they run into many obstacles and hardships which they must overcome. The book is about survival and being on your own in a mostly unfriendly world that is trying to kill you. The narrator did a good job. I noticed in many reviews people didn't like the female voices he used but I didn't have any trouble with them.

"Run". By Blake Crouch, & read by Phil Gigante Fantastic!
I usually listen to an audio book seven nights a week, due to too many
Back surgeries after being a nurse for 20+yrs. Sleep is difficult for me
I awake @ least 10 times a night, so I listen to many books to re-focus
My mind to good stories instead of the constant pain! I have all of Alex Cross, Women's Murder Club, Harry Bosch, Karin Slaughter, Tom Clancy
& too many other mystery/suspense books to list. This was the first Blake Crouch book,& it was so fast paced, excellent story, read by Phil
Gigante who took you along on this families journey.A wonderful experience so dynamic I couldn't focus on anything but the read!

One of the best books I've ever experienced.
I read this book years ago and loved it then. Listening to it performed was even better. I was so invested in the characters of this story I would think about it when not reading/listening. It is so easy to fall into the trappings of daily life and take for granted what matters. This book reminds me that the grind of "making a life" can sometimes take away from truly living and loving. I don't need many reminders, I have lived through enough ugly to cherish all that is beautiful about my life. However, this book sure does remind me how close to edge we all live and how quickly it could all change. I am so glad I listened again as I had forgotten the story it had been so long since I had read it. This one is going in my "To read again" folder for sure.

Annoying whiny kids ruin this story
This book has a good story that is absolutely ruined by the whiny idiotic family that doesn't know when to shut up. I couldn't even get halfway without returning this audio book for a refund. It takes a lot for me to give up on a book and I completely give up on this book. Listen to the sample, if you can deal with it then perhaps this story is for you. It was not for me. It is a shame because the Wayward Pines trilogy is one of my favorite stories of all time

Been done before.
Would you try another book written by Blake Crouch or narrated by Phil Gigante?
I have and they have been better.
What could Blake Crouch have done to make this a more enjoyable book for you?
This was well written but nothing new.
What do you think the narrator could have done better?
The female voices were a bit annoying.
Was Run worth the listening time?
I never got to finish it so in my case no.
Any additional comments?
A familiar storyline with nothing to make it stand out.
