Publisher's summary

Rebecca Virtue discovered the secret of her family’s past, but at a great cost. She is now the last of her name. Unleashing her full power as the last demon hunter, she defeated her teacher turned avatar, Samuel Santano. With nothing left in her home of Chicago, Rebecca heads to Detroit with a simple plan. Summon and destroy the Horseman of War.

Turning to an old friend and unlikely allies, Rebecca learns how little she knows of her powers as she struggles for control. Not only does she not know the rules, War is on the hunt and sows discord into her mind and heart. With the Thunderbirds at her back and her friend’s life on the line, Rebecca is determined to follow through with her plan despite the cost. With her heart breaking and her mind torn she continues forward blindly. Things only become more complicated when she begins breaking the Rules of Engagement.

Why does the author keep doing this to us?!?!

I really enjoyed this book. I listened to the audio version and was really impressed with all the different voices. It really made following along easier.

I am not usually a fan of fantasy, but this story really grabbed me. I was yelling at my computer, rolling my eyes at some points and really getting worked up over things. The author does a great job of making you feel immersed in the story and it is easy to get attached to some of the characters. The story awakes a little detective in your that you didn't realize was there. Often times I found myself thinking, well that sounds suspicious. And I feel like, "Oh I don't like the sound of that," is my new catchphrase.

Overall, I think it was well written and I can not wait for the next one. . . June can not come soon enough.
