Publisher's summary

When a ship of refugees plead to come to the Barony realm for help, the Lady St. August is more than pleased to offer refuge and it falls to the Barony captain, Tanner Scott of the Atlas to provide that aid. In doing so, he learns about the real truth behind the refugees and why they are fleeing something that appears to be coming to the RIM, invaders!

While the Atlas delves into the details of the refugees, the RIM Confederacy Council and its leaders find that providing that refugee status and sanctuary, might be a process that will take the RIM into war.

With Admiral McQueen and his flagship leading the way, the RIM Navy calls on its member realms to add more ships to the task force that is assigned to beat the invaders and their best laid plans go awry, except for Captain Scott's reliance on what he calls his battle insurance. While the invaders do not communicate, it appears that they have superior technology and use it to try to win the day. Only Captain Scott's plan may work...or will it?

Monotone

There is no inflection or change in the readers voice. While easy to understand, the readers monotone makes the listening experience less enjoyable. Still a good listen.

bad narrative

the reading was brutal. mistakes abound and a dull mono tone voice makes you grimace at time. the story itself will get you through

Raw file

The main issue with this book is the audio file is not edited. The reader will make a mistake and then there will be a load beep and then the reader will redo the section. So it looks like the reader sent in the file in to get the final edit and the published just posted it without editing. The main issue with the writing is that every character has the speech patterns.

Horrible Reading and Zero Editing

This is probably the worst Audible book I have had the displeasure of hearing. The story line is typical space opera and I have no issue with it BUT the narrator was just plain awful. Absolutely zero inflection, poor pronunciation, no character - no anything actually. Hopefully the author finds another person to take over duties as this was a major fail. In addition to the horrendous reading, this was obviously a raw file as all the mistakes and re-takes were included - why did Audible allow this? I honestly feel cheated by this reading.

piss poor editing

the great story continues but for Audible to try to pass this unedited piece off as Prime is laughable. I will be discontinuing my subscription and reading the remaining books on my kindle.
