Publisher's summary

Ruby de Burgh is the first born of the four daughters of Earl Blackpool. They were all named after the stones in daggers, bought by their late mother regarding a superstition. Ruby acts more like the son her father always wanted - nothing like a lady. And she is not pleased to find out her father has promised Lord Sheffield his choice of one of his daughter's hands in marriage.

Lord Nyle of Sheffield needs a wife so he can carry on his secret mission for the king. However, after losing three wives in a matter of months, he is sure their deaths were not accidents as it seemed, but rather they were murdered. Now to catch the murderer that he believes to be inside his castle walls, he chooses a wife as bait who he knows can wield a sword and hold her own against any attacker.

Will murder and mayhem place a wedge between an unconventional wife and the lord of death, or bring them closer together as emotions are brought to the surface?

Not all is as it seems

Lady Ruby was anything but a genteel young woman. Nyle , Lord Sheffield was an evil murderer......or was he! An intriguing tale of lies, murder and one Lady who just didn’t want to be tamed. As always this is a wonderful mix of humour, mystery, adventure and romance. Recommended.

Awesome

What does Stan Chandler bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

Life

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

Five Daggers, Four Daughters, One Lost Son, will they find them in time to live happily ever after

Any additional comments?

This book is awesome I got it from Elizabeth and I loved every bit of it. I fell for these daughters during the prequel and couldn't wait to read and listen to their own stories on how they found their daggers and their HEAs. Ruby doesn't disappoint. I loved every bit of it.

A true gem!

I just discovered Elizabeth Rose and I am very very thankful that I did! Totally enjoyable, well written, wonderfully narrated and tastefully heated, makes this discovery priceless.

Speaking of price, totally creditworthy but.... I bought the kindle edition first with the narrated added and paid much less for both than the cost of what a credit would be. However you pay for it if you like medieval romances with strong sexy heroes and a proud smart sassy heroine than these books are worth whatever the cost.

Good book

The book started out strong with a stubborn and independent woman. Ruby was to marry Nile so her father could form alliances and stay on the king's good side. Ruby has grown up learning the ways of a knight, practicing sword fighting and jousting. I really liked Ruby in the beginning. Once the story delved deeper, I started to think she is dense and air headed to go along with her annoyingly stubborn nature. I did like her due to her not confirming to what's expected of a lady and a wife. But she doesn't know when to stop talking and spills secrets she's not supposed to tell, which often endangers herself and others. She acts, but never thinks about the consequences and how it can negatively affect others. Nile was the opposite. I thought he was annoying at first but grown to like him. The suspense surrounding Nile's previous 3 wives deaths is a mystery and he chose Ruby knowing she can defend herself. The book was on the slow side and very predictable. I did enjoy the character development and their growing relationship.

Stan is an excellent narrator and I enjoyed his voice acting. There are moments where there are murmurs and whispers that he goes into character with. The only problem with that is it's too soft hear at a normal volume. I often have to rewind and raise the volume just to hear what was said then turn the volume back down.
