Publisher's Summary

They come from two different worlds.

Their love goes against centuries of tradition.

But he doesn’t give a damn.

Maggie

The royal family needs a tutor. Someone they can trust. Someone who isn’t swayed or distracted from their duties by working for royalty. I’m perfect for the position since I don’t know the first thing about English royalty.

My father needs money for medical bills, and I’m desperate. The children are charming, and when I meet their handsome older brother, Prince Edward, my heart skips a beat.

I may be the tutor. but he’s teaching more than I want to know about falling for the wrong man. He’s a player, and I need this job, so I try to stay away. Keyword: try.

Edward

I’m expected to make the best match for my country. But marriage has never interested me. I spend my nights cavorting with beautiful women from the most suitable families, always avoiding serious entanglements.

Then Maggie waltzes into our lives and turns my world upside down. Everything I thought I wanted, everything that’s expected of me - she makes me want to throw them all away for her.

The fact that she won’t let me near her only makes me desire her even more, and I’m a royal who doesn’t like to follow the rules.

Royally Schooled

The story may sound typical, a royal bad boy who meets a regular girl and falls in love, but it was still a great listen. American girl Maggie moved to England when her dad got sick. When she interviews for a nanny job, she didn't realize that it was for the royal family, or that the hot guy she bumped into was the prince. Prince Edward enjoys his life how it is, but there is something refreshing about Maggie that just draws him in. When she gets the job, he uses this chance to get closer to her. Their attraction is sizzling and slightly forbidden, which just makes it hotter. But things don't go smoothly for these two, and they have to navigate a major scandal before they can get their HEA. The narrator does a great job putting emotion into the story as well as using a British accent for Edward, and bringing all the characters to life. I can't wait to listen to the next one!

Royally Schooled

Review contains spoilers

It was a decent attempt at a quick romance book. American girl moved to England, brings sick dad over to care while he is fighting cancer where healthcare is cheaper. She somehow gets an insider tip from someone in the know of a teaching job. She has little to no info on who she’ll be teaching but ends up getting the job.

I had a hard time believing that she got a job tip about the job teaching royal children but has no idea who the members of the royal family is.

The oldest prince (who will one day be king) decides to change his ways and buck expectations to get the girl. The queen is apparently perfectly fine with this.

Timing is hard to follow but I feel like it was only 2 months or so when he asked her to marry him.

The only mention of media drama is after AG runs her mouth to a “friend” about how upset she was that he paid her dads medical bills and the friend correctly guesses that she is sleeping with the prince.

I feel like if this story was about a prince in some small/unknown county that it would have come across more believable.

Narrator did a good job with the h’s narration. I wish there was a male narrator with a true British accent to narrate the H.

Also there was an odd echo like it was narrated in a tunnel during part of the book.

Sexy romance, prince vs tutor

Maggie is a tutor working with the royal children in England to assist them in their schooling. Edward, the children's older brother amd prince of England, is known for dating various women. When Edward asks Maggie out, they both end up getting more than they bargained for.

What a sweet and sexy romance! The story was great and just what i needed, just like when i feel like watching a romcom. It was a very light and easy listen, although some scenes may be better to listen to in private or you may find yourself blushing while at work (like i did)!!

Holly narrated perfectly. She was particularly great in differentiating the characters, especially the english accent. She made romantic scenes beautiful, and sexy moments passionate. Well done Holly!

I absolutely recommend this book to anyone wanting to hear a romantic and passionate love story.

An excellent story. Through most of the story I didn't think much of Edward. The one good thing I liked right from the start was that he never pretended to be anything but who he was. As the story continued, I could see him changing little by little. Maggie and Edward are perfect for each other. I look forward to more of this royal family.

Holly Holt did a fantastic job narrating. She really brought the story to life.

I recieved a free Audible copy of this story, at my request, in exchange for a honest review.

Forbidden Love

Maggie is hired as a tutor. She needs this job for her father's medical bills. She will do everything she can to keep the job. Edward is a Prince who gets everything he wants. Rules were not made for him to follow. The attraction between these two is like two very strong magnets. As much as they try to stay away, they are drawn more and more to each other. I loved the push and pull of these two. Edward would do every thing he could to be close to Maggie, while Maggie did everything she could to avoid him. Throw in an overbearing mother and the problems begin. I loved everything about this story.

Holly Holt narrated this fun story. Ms. Holt brings out the desperation in Maggie. Maggie is a strong woman who has many responsibilities. Ms. Holt brings that out and helps the reader feel Maggie's emotions and struggles. Ms Holt narrates Edward exactly as I expected him to be, spoiled and arrogant. Ms. Holt easily brings him to life. Holly Holt was the perfect narrator for this story.

Terrific Story & Narration🎧An Enjoyable Delight!

This is my first McKenna James book and it will not be my last. I enjoyed her writing style, the characters and storylines she created. The story grabbed my attention right from the start and held it straight to the end. Her characters are well developed, Maggie an American living in London with her ill father is looking for a better paying job to help pay her Dad’s bills. She interviews for a tutoring job to find out it is for two children from the royal family. Edward, is the Royal Prince, he bumped into Maggie moments before the interviews for a tutor for his younger siblings started. He was to only monitor the interviews but when he saw Maggie he could not help but ask her some questions. He pushed for Maggie to get the job, stating she is not familiar with the Royal family so she had no hidden agenda to spy on them for the press. It was funny when she first saw him at the palace and still did not know who he was. Edward being the play that he is started to make his advances, only for her to decline. He continues to pursue until she finally gives in, he wants to get her out of his system, she just wants to have a one night stand. The two really clicked and start to develop feelings towards each other. Thinking a relationship could never be Maggie wants to end things. I loved how their story played out, also loved how good she was with her two students. It is too bad she was betrayed and all went haywire for her and for the Royals. This is a fast paced story, there is never a dull moment, with some good humor, drama, a bit of angst and a sweet romance. McKenna James thank you for this great story.

I listened to the Audible edition, Holly Holt is a wonderful narrator and voice performer. She brings these characters to life, gives each their own unique voice and personality. She does a great job with the different accents and switches character roles flawlessly without missing a beat. She is an entertaining storyteller and enhances the story another level. Thank you for this great listen🎧
