Roots

The Saga of an American Family

De: Alex Haley

Narrado por: Prentice Onayemi

Roots is a groundbreaking story of history and family that spanned continents and touched generations. One of the most important books and television series ever to appear, Roots galvanized the nation and created an extraordinary political, racial, social, and cultural dialogue that hadn’t been seen since the publication of Uncle Tom’s Cabin. The book sold over one million copies in the first year, and the miniseries was watched by an astonishing 130 million people. It also won both the Pulitzer Prize and the National Book Award. Roots opened up the minds of Americans of all colors and faiths to one of the darkest and most painful parts of America’s past, and we continue to feel its reverberations today.

Fantastic book.

Moving and totally absorbing. I had heard some things about this book when it first came out. So I never read it. I’m sorry it took me so long. I absolutely loved it!

I need to see the mini series again

I watched the mini series when it came out in the 70's with my family. Everyone should see it. Ihadnever read the book,so decided to purchase the audiobook. It was excellent. The end naration brought me to tears. I highly recommend it.

Just WOW.

I hope this is required reading in every American history course. Stunning writing, imagery, story and so so important. Can’t believe I waited so long to read this. Audible version is EXCELLENT in narration.
