An Angel among us

I met the author, Annette, fifteen years ago this month. My husband had died suddenly at the age of forty a few months earlier. Following his death, I continued to see my therapist who'd been helping me deal with depression and anxiety for about fifteen years. My husband, then boyfriend, had found this therapist and contacted her on my behalf. It was a great match. In one of our sessions after my husband died, I mentioned to my therapist that I wish I could connect with him spiritually somehow. Both he and I had believed in a spiritual world and afterlife. My therapist gave me the name of a former colleague who might be able to help me out. I contacted Annette and she agreed to meet with me. During our session I told her my husband's story, one that involved a lot of tragedy, including the death of his mother from an aneurysm when he was fourteen and later the deaths by suicide of his grandfather and some years later his younger brother. I said I was worried he wasn't at peace. She asked for my permission to reach out to him and help set him free. Without going into detail, I will say Annette helped me by helping him. I left the session with a sense of hope and gratitude. Recently, I googled Annette's name and came across this memoir. I listened to it over two days and couldn't believe all the hardships she'd endured as well as the amazing things she'd experienced. She is truly a special person with the most compassionate heart. Looking back, I feel that something divine had brought us together because if it weren't for my husband, he wouldn't have found my therapist, and I'd never known about Annette. I'll be forever grateful for her beautiful heart.
