Publisher's summary

Will wishing on a star save her life... and bring her love? Die, Aldridge. The painted threat oozes down the stable's walls. Nicole Aldridge, the only child of England's finest jockey, is driven by one goal: to protect her father from merciless blackmailers. To make ends meet, she disguises herself as a boy to compete in a celebrated derby. But her new employer is Dustin Kingsley, the marquis of Tyreham, a devastatingly attractive nobleman who soon ensnares Nicole in his sensual thrall. London's most eligible bachelor, Dustin has despaired of finding a woman who can be his equal in every way. When he discovers that his new jockey and the restless beauty he meets under a starlit sky are one and the same, he uses his seductive wiles to coax out Nicole's deepest secrets. But their passion spirals out of control, plunging Dustin and Nicole into a world of shadow and mystery. With enemies all around and hope fading fast, destiny grants the desperate lovers one last wish.

Good story, good narrator

Good narration, a few instances where I tried to figure out what role Nicole was playing but otherwise very good.
Another great story from Andrea Kane. Dustin did not disappoint in his open and honest way. He is a fun loving guy who definitely deserves a good woman like Nicole, who is just amazing! I’m glad we learned how he became a marquis because that puzzled me in the first novel. I didn’t mind the lack of sex scenes because the H&H were bound by their hearts before their bodies.

Nice two book series

Both books were good and great stories. Narration was really good. Worth the listen. I love books that have a story that keeps your attention while it slips the romance in.

good story, narration lacking

The story was good, characters good, but the narrator couldn't or didn't make Dustin's voice masculine, and Nicole sounded like a very little girl. I considered not finishing, but decided to go ahead. I rather wished I had read that instead of listened to the nook.

Part two 1875 English love story

This story begins with a meeting of two people just talking. What began as an unexpected twist of fate brought two people together. To fight off treachery, murder, corruption and mayhem. all to do with horse racing and gambling. And though it all a love so strong.....was marriage in sight? The narrator was ok....but I would have pick another voice.....ah can’t have everything. There is abk before this one but it is a stand alone bk. Enjoy 🐼🐼🐼🐼🐼🐼🐼

Wishes in the Wind

The story was good but the narrator needed much improvement on Dustin's voice. At time he sounded like Glenda Goodwitch and then transposed into a slimy jerk. The tones and inflections on a passionate mode were too loud and aggressive.

It was a dark and stormy night…

Just kidding. It got dark several times, then light again. I don’t recall it raining.
The story was pretty good, as was the 1st book’s. The narrator is talented at voices; there’s just so much she can do to further lower her voice, with her particular laryngeal structure. I guess. Giving her the benefit of the doubt.
The sex scenes are tame and repetitive, so I don’t know what some reviewers are complaining about. I say, go buy a vibrator and try to view these scenes as opportunities.
Finally, and this goes for both books, Andrea Kane’s writing and Flora MacDonald’s performance together create the ambience of ‘30s melodrama. In black and white. Starring Errol Flynn and Olivia de Havilland.
That’s all I got.

Good story, excellent narrator.

The story is engaging even though not quite my forte. This narrator is phenomenal! The way she flows into different voices and characters is stupendous. She makes stories come to life!

love and races

this is a much better book the first of the series. The first meeting is little creepy but after that is a mutual love, honest and respectful relationship. a few steamy scenes (i wish there was a filter for these, sometimes you just want a gp romance). an enjoyable listen overall.
