Publisher's summary

Wild Invitation is an exciting collection of Psy/Changeling stories from New York Times best-selling author Nalini Singh. In "Beat of Temptation", innocent Tamsyn has always had a place in her heart for Nathan, a blooded DarkRiver sentinel. But is she ready for the fierce demands of the mating bond? In "Stroke of Enticement", a wary young teacher, skeptical about love, arouses the man - and the animal - in an aggressive leopard changeling who must prove his affections are true.

The collection also features two never-before-published novellas: In "Declaration of Courtship", Grace, a shy, submissive wolf, finds herself pursued by the last man she ever would have imagined: a SnowDancer lieutenant said to be "mad, bad, and dangerous to know". In "Texture of Intimacy", SnowDancer healer Lara discovers the searing joys - and unexpected challenges - of being mated to quiet, powerful Walker, a man used to keeping his silence.

4 Good Short Stories

If you have not heard the other books in this series, you will not really understand why these 4 stories were needed to be told. I was very glad to hear Tam and Nat's story, I have wandered about them since book 1. Zach and Cooper's stories are a lot of fun as well, but it was Lara and Walker's story that I really liked. I was hoping after book 10 that more would be written about them. It was also nice to hear alittle more about what happened after the "War" but there is still alot more to be written on that and I really hope Ms. Singh does write about it. I also hope to see more about the "Arrow's" some of them seem like they would have very interesting stories as well. If you liked this series, then I think you will like hearing these 4 stories as well.

Always good

Singh is by far one of my favorite authors. Both her series are great. I'd read two of the stories in this book previously but that didn't block my enjoyment of getting to listen to them again and getting to listen to two new ones.

Angela Dawe does a wonderful job as always.

Wild Invitation

I am truly sad that I am now done with this series. I think I loved the Anthologies the best at the end, it was awesome to be in the world that gave me so many hours of listening awesomeness.

I wasn’t looking forward to these and yet I devoured them faster than most of the books. I never wanted to pause.

Loved the narration again I know that is me being a broken record but I did.

Really good group of Psy/changling short stories :

Beat of Temptation
2.5-3 stars
Time: 0:00-2:42

Um, this story shows how Nate and Tamsyn get together and I have to say that this story just made me want to kick Nate in the balls (multiple times) because of how badly he treated Tammi and how idiotic her acted. And then he didn't even do a decent grovel to make it up to her. They end with a HEA (obviously since they're happily mated in future books).

Stroke Of Enticement
4.5-5 stars
Time: 2:42-5:20

This was a great short story, that I really enjoyed reading. Annie is a human teacher that works in a school close to DarkRiver territory and has a number of leopard shifter children in her class. Zach is a leopard shifter that's part of the DarkRiver pack and works as a park ranger in Yosemite National Park. Zach gets called to the school for something having to do with a nephew and meets Annie. Annie is attracted but has some trust issues that makes her reluctant to get into a relationship, especially anything serious. Thankfully, Zach is able to get past Annie's defenses (with a little good advice from a packmate) and the story ends with Annie and Zach happily together and starting towards a HEA. :)

Declaration of Courtship
4-4.5 stars
Time: 5:20-8:47

This was a really good story but I think technically it should be #8.5 in the series instead of #9.5 because Cooper and Grace are mentioned as already being a couple in book #9, Play of Passion.

This story is about Cooper, who is a SnowDancer lieutenant and very dominant, and Grace, who is a submissive in the SnowDancer pack and works as an engineer. Mostly this story encompasses Cooper trying to court Grace, which is a bit difficult because of her submissive wolf's instincts towards a dominant wolf. There are some additional difficulties due to of some issues from Cooper's past that rear up as he and Grace start to get close. Thankfully, the issues aren't too hard to deal with and Cooper and Grace are happily mated by the end of the story. :)

Texture of Intimacy
4-4.5 stars
Time: 8:47-11:44

This was a really good short story and continuation of Lara and Walker's relationship. I did like that Lara and Walker got together in Kiss of Snow but because of that, their relationship didn't get a lot of in depth viewing (so to speak). This story helps to round that out a bit. We get to see Lara and Walker move in together and Lara become a step-mom to Walker's 2 kids (Toby & Marlee) and them dealing with the general issues that come with melding the lives and personalities of 2 very different people. It was a nice way to show Walker and Lara in a more solidified HEA. :)

great story not so great narration

I loved the stories but really hated the tone and voice narrator used for Lara in the last story. She made her sound like a little girl. distracted from the story.

Awesome addition to this series!

What did you love best about Wild Invitation?

I don't mind brevity as long as I'm still getting a legit story so this set of novellas was an extremely satisfying read. It was great to hear how Tamsin and Nate got together, as well as getting more of Walker and Lara. I found myself wanting to hear more about them than Hawk and Sienna in Kiss of Snow, so I was in heaven getting to focus on them for a few hours.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Walker - even though my own honeypie is the most gregarious person I know I am SUCH a sucker for the strong and silent type. I also love Judd, so yeah. Kaleb too, after Heart of Obsidian, who am I kidding?!

Would you listen to another book narrated by Angela Dawe?

I'm not going to go looking for books she narrates, but I'm also not going to pass on a book because she narrated it. Take from that what you will.

Any additional comments?

These are GREAT novellas! Even though I missed the bigger plotlines, etc. that you get from the rest of the series, I feel like these are a perfect example of how a solid love story can be developed and executed in a short span of pages. Each one was different, and I enjoyed them all. I was jonesing for more Walker and Lara, so I read these immediately after Kiss of Snow, although technically the stuff in Walker and Lara's story sets that novella after Tangle of Need, but I don't think it really matters.

IS THERE ANYTHING NALINI WRITES THAT I WON'T LIKE?

What made the experience of listening to Wild Invitation the most enjoyable?

Anything by Nalini is great, even her short stories. Most of the time short stories feel rushed to me but despite the stories being a lot shorter they still felt complete and well written.

Any additional comments?

I love Nalini Singh and read everything she writes. You have got to read her stuff if you like Thea Harrison, J.R. Ward. Christine Feehan, Jeaniene Frost, etc. You get the picture!!
