Publisher's Summary

He didn't beat me because he thought I looked at his daughter. He beat me because he could. Because I needed his house and his food and his so-called care. Because I wouldn't fight back.

I was passed from one abusive home to another. They were all the same - the taste of blood on my tongue, the sound of broken bones in my ears.

It was the hand I was dealt.

But when I finally escaped the system that tore me apart, I dedicated my life to avenging those who had laid their hands on me, who spit at me, who told me I was nothing.

I was ready to fight.

The compound reminded me of who I was and where I came from. And business was thriving.

Then I met Brea. She was unexpected, a Wild Ace in my deck. I could sense her own painful past, but I fed off her light. She was my escape from the darkness that surrounded me. My moment of freedom.

The moment was brief.

As soon as the door swung open, my worst nightmare sat on the other side. Brea had fallen into the shadows of my destruction. She'd finally seen the true ugliness in me.

~~~~~~~~A W E S O M E~~~~~~~~~~
This Author and Narrators was a first for me but absolutely will not be the last. This story was an absolute solid 5 star listen. I will not give any story away but just know that it has all the emotions and feels I could ask for!! Plus a stellar performance that gives a edge of your seat, can't stop listing, power punch of sex, lies, suspense,laughter, tears and a well deserved and fabulously written HEA. Marni Mann just went to my top 5 authors to follow!! So worth a credit or coin, looking forward to more!!!
Emotionally charged and so very heartfelt
I absolutely loved this story and audio performance. It was such an original story and I loved the journey that Brea and Trapper endured. It was one that was destined to be.
Zachary Webber gives an emotional performance that once again played out like a movie as I listened. Muffy Newtown - I think this was one of my favorites portrayed by her.
Highly recommend!!
SEEING DOUBLE👻👻👻👻👻👻
The narrators did an excellent job on this book, but I didn't like how the heroine would get upset with the hero, and wouldn't let him explain/defend himself. She was a little too mean to him for me. WARNING! The beginning of the book was hard for me to listen/deal with abuse isn't easy for anyone to deal with, but I think that it's hardest for children who are in that situation.
Loved the narrators!
I️ am pretty sure that Jacob Morgan has surpassed Sebastian York as my favorite male narrator for a romance and Muffy Newton has always been at the top of that list for women. What a great job they both did.
An Amazing Book
I've enjoyed listening to this book. Except for the part about Trapper calling some woman's vagina dirty, everything was great. I look forward to listening to more books by the author and narrators. The story is wonderful but somewhat sad. It's still a good book, so I recommend it to all.
Worst female narrator I've ever heard.
I got the book because I love the voice of the male narrator and because of the reviews. the story was ok but I will never listen to another book narrated by the female narrator. Her voice was too breathy and over dramatic. It made me enjoy the book a lot less. I didn't care for Bria' s character and it's possible that it's because of the narration.
