Pleasant story, distractingly inaccurate narration

I found the story to be similar to the feel of one of those old timey movies from the '40s that are set in Italy. It's an interesting enough plot line with moments of passion. However, I struggled because I was so distracted by the narrator. She does have a lovely voice. But she is absolutely incapable of doing an American accent and it was very distracting. Also, her Italian accent for the main character was way too over the top for somebody that was supposed to have spent the last 26 years of his life in the United States, since the age of 14. It was just ridiculous. Also, I know this is kind of nitpicky but she has very predictable and repetitive inflection patterns.

it was pretty good to listen to

This story began with Eve being rescued from almost drowning in the ocean in Barbados. When the man tells her his name must be Adam, she thinks it’s a joke. As she goes into shock, he warms her with his body and they make love. As they get further acquainted later, she learns he’s inherited a small tourist hotel. She flies with him to Italy where they meet his family and begin a new life as small innkeepers. Then trouble begins as his past life begins to catch up with him. Will they survive this? Can their love survive learning of his past?

Lovely story, didn't care much for the narration

Would you consider the audio edition of Where Lemons Bloom to be better than the print version?

No

What did you like best about this story?

I really enjoyed the story in its self. However, I couldn't get over the narration.

What didn’t you like about Alex Lee’s performance?

Alex Lee's performance was great.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

No

Any additional comments?

As much as the story was interesting, I couldn't get over the narration. Alex Lee did a great job narrating, however I couldn't picture Eve with such a voice. For a thirty some year old American, she sounded much more older with a British accent. That didn't do it for me. As well as Adamo's voice. I would have enjoyed the book much more if another narrator was used.

Great narration. Engaging & enjoyable story

I really enjoyed WHERE LEMONS BLOOM. It’s part romance, part mystery, and part travelogue. The story was entertaining but I never found it overtaxing or mired in angst given some of the more serious topics addressed.

I found the beginning quite fast. Many significant yet seemingly unrelated things happen at once with little exploration or explanation. However, it does not take long for the pacing to slow down and the story proceeds in a more balanced manner.

I loved the descriptions of Barbados and the Amalfi coast. It felt like I was right there with our characters. And the descriptions of food made me hungry! The issue of embezzled funds that saw Adamo in prison for several years, drives the story from location to location as he and Eve try to prove his innocence. The conclusion was satisfying and all loose ends were nicely tied up.

I thoroughly enjoyed Alex Lee’s narration. Her melodic voice was a pleasure to listen to, and she was able to well convey feelings and emotions as per story requirements. I am making the assumption she is English, and she does not hide this accent during the narration. Some might be put off by this given the majority of the characters are American, but I had no issues with this at all. In fact, it was pleasant change from the typical American voice I listen to on audio books.

Where Lemons Bloom

This story starts out on an odd and confusing note. He saves her from drowning, they jump in to bed together, she wakes the next morning and runs off with nothing and yet she is able to get into her room? They run into each other on the ship and decide to give friendship a chance and start to fall in love by the end. I love how all his family comes out to meet them when they arrive in town. The first few hours of the book drags on, but does pick up. The narration was nice but the accent did not quite match the American lady.

Great story with some unexpected twists

I loved the story, it felt like the author took me on a journey across the globe. From the beaches of Barbados to Italy, to the United states. The way the story started, I wasn’t sure I was going to like it - the whole “I was drowning but let’s have sex” seemed a bit unrealistic, but I’m glad I stuck with it because it just got better as the story went. The story was nicely paced, and there were lots of unexpected things that happened. The characters were well developed and very likable. I loved the secondary characters too. I would recommend this book to any one who loves an interesting suspense story with some romance.

Great Story!

I wouldn't normally read this book, but I received a free code for it and was pleasantly surprised!! The story was great and kept me very interested. They only reason I didn't give it 5 stars across the board is that it was written in 3rd person, and I prefer 1st.
