But when Sophie and Phin meet, they both get more than they want. Gossip, blackmail, adultery, murder, vehicular abuse of a corpse, and slightly perverse but excellent sex: all hell breaks loose in Temptation as Sophie and Phin fall deeper and deeper in trouble, and in love.

Small town secrets

Where does Welcome to Temptation rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

It was a good read but a little drawn out. It had mystery and love but, it had too many side stories going on.

What other book might you compare Welcome to Temptation to and why?

The Witness and a combination of The Husband Trap - unexpected love for those not looking for it. Murder and men who want to do the right thing. But yet very different books. With the husband trap, siblings with selfish motives and no desire to feel responsible for what they do.

Did Aasne Vigesaa do a good job differentiating all the characters? How?

Did ok.....but Aimee sounded more like a man

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

No extreme reactions. I did get upset with the younger sister Aimee for the guilt-trips she keep placing on her sister.

Good Book Reader Too Much in a Hurry

I read the reviews and knew that the reader read a little quickly, but I thought I would try. The first few chapters I thought I wouldn't be able to finish, but sometime after the next few chapters she did slow down and I was able to enjoy the book.

It’s a lovely developing romance.

The first time I read the paperback I thought it was great and laughed a lot. I reread the paperback in 2015 and found it to be more average the second time through. The middle felt slow, but the ending was great. In 2017 I listened to the audiobook. The middle wasn’t as slow when listening to the audiobook.

AUDIOBOOK NARRATOR:
Aasne Vigesaa (AV) was not good. It was hard for me to get into the story. I had to keep reminding myself to concentrate to stay interested. She read too fast. There was no curiosity, interest, or sense of wonder. It was just “hurry up and be done.” Her dialogue for Phin the hero was too fast and came out monotone. He was not sexy or desirable. I recommend AV listen to Will Patton and Frank Mueller to see how great narrators do it. On the positive side AV had a nice sounding voice, a good generic accent, and she did slow down a little toward the end.

Cruise does it again

And again and again and again! I couldn't put this DOWN! Loved all aspects of this book, and can't wait to read Davy's book (already have it... just waiting now!). This book was all over the place, but somehow... Cruise can pull it off and make it just glow!

Single mayor, young motherless child, struggling porn producers, murder, nosey small town, and a hoopla of hilarious family.... oh ya, and romance! who knew it was such an awesome combo!

Finally a romance book I can enjoy!

If you could sum up Welcome to Temptation in three words, what would they be?

hmmmmmmmmmmm, funny, well written and far less insulting to my intelligence than any other romance book I have read previous to this one.

Who was your favorite character and why?

The sheriff who begins as a back ground character and develops slowly but is so likeable. Harry Conick Jr. would play him to a T and even has the right accent.

Which scene was your favorite?

The town hall meeting at the end.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would be the tag line be?

Temptation is not just the name of the town.

Any additional comments?

I have struggled to want to read romance as a friend of mine (yet unpublished) rights it and several friends read it voraciously. This book did not insult my intelligence by giving me so many details about the obvious I felt them shoved down my throat. I loved the strong independent and family oriented characters and really look forward to reading another book by Jennifer Cruisie. My friend is reading You Bet or something like that and is loving it.

From laughs to love... Best narration

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Absolutely. I picked up this book solely for the narration, Aasne Vigesaa is exceptional, but the story was so quirky, funny and enjoyable I fell in love with it as well.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Finn, I love his attitude, he has an uncomplicated maleness about him.

Have you listened to any of Aasne Vigesaa’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

Yes I have. I think this is one of the best since I loved the story so much. I keep looking the books that she has narrated and I wish there were more in the Romance genre. She has this awesome melodic voice and does a great build up when reading. I absolutely love her female and male narrations

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

I would say there were a lot. The love scenes are out of this world funny in a very good way. The reaction of the characters was hilarious both during and after and the conversation priceless.

Any additional comments?

More books from this narrator please!!!!

Overall this was an enjoyable book

Bought on Audible
Rating 3.5

What I Loved: Sophie/Amy/Davey! Anytime two or more of the siblings were together it was fun, heart-warming, and always a surprise. I laughed, got sad, and got my heart strings pulled at many times. I also loved the character of Rachel and her quest to get out of Temptation. She reminded me a lot of most of the small town gals I know---they want out and don't want to look back. Her journey and quest to get out of town was surprising and fun. I adored all the Princess Bride and other movie references.

What I Liked: The town of Temptation was full of interesting characters. I think they covered the gambit of personalities and made for some very funny moments. The overall story was well paced, well written, and very funny.

Complaints: I just never warmed to Phin. For a leading man he was a little to arrogant for me right up until the end. I did enjoy the Amy/Wes story and almost wish they were the main couple in this book.

Audio Review: The pacing was fantastic but the narration was a little too twangy for me. Overall though I did enjoy the reading of the book.

Why I gave it a 3.5: Overall this was an enjoyable book but since I never warmed up to Phin it just didn't fill my "love story" quotient for a chic-lit romance novel.

Who I would recommend it too: Chic-lit and Contemporary Romance readers. Please go check out the reviews on Goodreads--the book got a lot of 5's.

NOT A REVIEW OF THE BOOK, WHICH IS GREAT FUN

Is anyone else getting the Beijing Conspiracy as part two??? I've bought it twice and called customer service and they said they'd look into it. But I'm an audible addict and am bummed.
