Male narrator - mis-cast

The male narraror on this needs some practice on voices. He's a bit distracting here. I've heard him before, and he's been better. The female narrator does fine. The story is cute & funny. Haven't looked at the bio for this author, some of her wording is wrong for Americans, making me think she's British. It doesn't take away from the story.

Okay

The story line was just okay. The female narrator was great. I love the male narrator is great...when he’s reading a male. Seriously. Love it. But. Why do people keep approving his female voices.

I loved this, but...

I was in need of a story that was hot, gave me feels, and had a dreamy lead. This was it. I do have to say that I’m not a huge fan of the “tie it up with a big bow” HEA, so this was more of a 4-5 star read for me.

I just really enjoyed Vaughn and Pins (so cute) together. I also love the found family trope that was put in. Ugh, so good.

Quick note about the audio, I didn’t mind the narrators. Amanda was very good & Alexander was okay, but truth be told, I disliked his female voice. The majority of this book I read and gave up the narration.

Omg Omg!!! Best Romantic Comedy of The Year!!!

This storyline was just fantastic and I laughed and smiled at all the banter wit and snark throughout it. The romance and love between West and Charlie was amazing. Narration was great I'll want to listen to Amanda and Alexander again and again.

A really Good Story

I really enjoyed the story. Vaughn and Charly had great chemistry. I loved to hear them fight. The two were hilarious. I loved Vaughn's family and Charley's friends. What I didn't like was Alexander Cendese female voice. I think that it would have been good for a youth fantasy book like The Rangers Apprentice or one of ML Foreman books but definitely not this genre. He was great as a guy but his portrayal of a woman was not awesome. it's a good thing that Samantha Towle wrote such a great book or many would have stopped reading. I wonder if authors choose their narrators 🤔 I just find it hard to believe that the author would choose such a voice or maybe the pool of choices were not good. Either way still a good book. Enjoy😊

cute

Mr Cendese has an amazing voice as a man, but when he reads as a female it is really hard to endure. Ms Ronconi did a good job. the story was cute, first half had a lot of smiles. the drama in the second half was a little tedious. glad I listened but once is enough. peace

it was going great until there was a secret

Let me start by saying that the male narrator of this book has read several books that I've listened to in the past. He always sounds like he's talking in a rush and most of the time I can just let it go. For this book, he was mostly fine until he did any female narration. I don't remember it bugging me so much in the past, but in this book I was super irritated.

What kept this book from being a five star book was the sudden, inexplicable secret that showed up mid-way through the book. I hate when authors use secrets in stories. It's not fair. And deciding to spring it on us when everything is going so well was really frustrating. On top of that when the secret was revealed, I almost stopped listening. It's one of my things absolute NOPE plot lines. Somehow she managed to turn the book around and it ended with a happily ever after. It still left a bad taste in my mouth, though, and that's sad because I really enjoyed this book for the majority of the time. It's a fun story, one that many of us dream of.

Fun, Witty, Quirky, and Deliciously Sexy

Here’s what’s going on. When Hollywood heartthrob Vaughn West discovers his girlfriend’s been sleeping with his best friend via a talk show, he decides the best way to get over the hurt is by drinking and shagging his days away. That is until a hot movie deal lands in his lap, now Vaughn’s getting his act together and focusing on the movie until his wardrobe assistant catches his eye.

Charly’s landed her dream job but it’s not exactly going as planned and the fact they can’t keep their hands off each other isn’t helping. Neither’s sure what’s going on between them but the one thing they do know is that they want to keep it quiet. Charly has secrets she needs to keep and Vaughn has his tarnished reputation to rebuild.

Charly and Vaughn were great together. They just clicked and I loved the easy banter they had. And they had the best first meeting, ever. Seriously, how can things not be interesting when the first time they meet he gets aroused when she’s taking in his pants and she accidentally pokes him in a rather private area with a straight pin.

So, this one definitely started with lust. They were both attracted to each other and gagging for a shag but they weren’t looking for a relationship. Vaughn needed to sort himself out and get back on track after being a party animal and Charly was hiding things. The relationship was gradual and bloomed when they spent time at Vaughn’s house away from his celebrity lifestyle. I liked seeing them grow as a couple.

I wasn’t a fan of the drama in this one, which is why I gave it 4 instead of a 5-cup rating. I’m never a fan of drama for drama’s sake and this is what it felt like. The argument/misunderstanding when Vaughn’s ex pops back up in his life then Charly’s little surly moment when she thought Vaughn wasn’t going to ask her to his sister’s wedding, they seemed to be added in just for the sake of drama. Then there was the big requisite blow up, which could have been avoided if Charly just would have told the truth. Seriously, a five-minute conversation over a cup of tea or coffee and it would have been done and dusted. Also, throughout the book, this ‘secret’ was built up to seem like something more than what it turned out it be and that just annoyed me. I need something more substantial for my dramatic moments.

I’ve really been enjoying dual narration in my audiobooks lately. It just adds something extra to the book. Of course, Amanda Ronconi is one of my favorite narrators so I’m always thrilled when she narrators. This was my first time listening to Alexander Cendese and I enjoyed his male narrations, although his female narrations were a little too whiny.

Overall, this was the book I needed at time I needed it. It had wit, humor, heat, and fun. Yeah, there were a few blips with the drama but I liked characters and I liked they were different. I’ve been enjoying seeing more crafty heroines, Charly’s a seamstress, and this, I believe, was the first time I’ve read a book where the hero was an actor.
