Publisher's Summary

Can broken hearts risk love again? India's life has always gone according to plan. But when she decides to call off her high-profile wedding and take time off from her network television job, everything turns upside down. A tranquil resort in the moody Smoky Mountains of Tennessee was supposed to be a place she could hide out and lick her wounds. Instead she finds herself questioning everything she ever thought she wanted.

Wyatt is a man with scars that run deep. He's built a careful life for himself, and he has no intention of letting anyone get close to him...again. But what happens when two people who are running away from love run right into one another? Will the intense chemistry they feel be enough to overpower their fears? Or will their time together in the Smoky Mountains end with broken hearts?

    "Great Romance About Second Chances"

I really enjoyed this author writing style. The characters were well developed and strong. The story did not have too much drama and the main characters were honest and intelligent.

The narration was excellent and brought the story to life. Her intonation was really good and I felt immersed into this audiobook.

This Contemporary Romance is about second chances. India just broke off with her fiancé on the day of their planned wedding. She is well known on TV because of her job and her courtship had been too public for her taste.

Wyatt is a great guy with deep scars from his past. He has been alone for too long and it was past time for him to move on from his painful past.

The secondary characters were also interesting and the story kept me listening all the way to the conclusion. There is a HEA conclusion and no cliffhangers. I'm looking forward to reading/listening to more books by Andrea Thome.

Where does Walland rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

As a romance this s a good one. Characters are strong and flawed as people are. The romance and settings are grounded and leave you feeling this could happen to you.

    Any additional comments?

Sometimes life just doesn’t go according to our plans. India has been a girl with a plan and life went on track until…she realizes she can’t go through with her planned wedding. Second chances sometimes give us more than we ever dreamed possible. This is a feel good romance with strong characters. I love how Wyatt steps through his own insecurity to reach out and move past broken hearts .Good as a stand alone story, but I am looking forward to the next in the series.
Marney Young has a rich voice that is easy to listen to. She would be amazing working with a strong male counterpart.

    "Very Enjoyable"
    Any additional comments?

Really enjoyed this story. It pulled me in from the beginning and held my attention until the end. Even though it's a shorter story it doesn't feel like it. It's well written and flows smoothly. Even though it's already a great story, I would have enjoyed it even more if it had been a bit longer.

Even though this is Book 1 of the series it's a standalone story.

It's an entertaining, sweet and engaging story about finding a second chance at love when you least expect it. While there are a couple of moments, it's not filled with major amounts of angst or drama it's just a sweet, feel good, second chance story with a great HEA.

Great cast of well rounded and likable characters. I really enjoyed that both Wyatt and India were strong independent people. Wyatt was a great character. Immediately likable. Someone who likes the Dead can't be bad. Uncle John's Band is one of the best songs ever. Once you hear his backstory you fall for him even more. India was likable immediately although she did take a while to become as endearing a Wyatt.

Marnye Young did a good job with the narration. This is the first time I have listened to her narrate a book. She has a voice that is perfect for narrating books. Nice voice that is easy to listen to for long periods of time. The narration was clearly spoken and flowed smoothly. There is not much difference between her male and female character voices which is confusing at times but did not take away from my enjoyment of her narration. She would be perfect for books with dual narration. Very enjoyable.

I liked the story and the narration, it just seemed like the characters acted much older than they are. I did like how the story played out.

    "Read only one time."
What was most disappointing about Andrea Thome’s story?

The story was pretty vanilla. It lacked any special "moments" and was pretty meh tbh. The book's fine for a single listen when you are having an otherwise boring day. Else the story doesn't hold your attention.

How did the narrator detract from the book?

The narration seemed rushed and lacked emotions. All the different kind of scenes were voiced in the same pitch. That way, I didn't feel connected to the story.

"Walland: Hesse Creek Book 1 Is Excellent"

Walland was such a lovely romance. The setting in the Smoky Mountains was dreamy and the characters of India and Wyatt were fully fleshed out and three dimensional. This was a perfect light contemporary romance. I think this is the first audiobook I've listened to by Andrea Thome but it won't be the last. She writes beautifully. I look forward to more in this series. This was an exciting start.

Marnye Young's performance was outstanding. She had such a lovely voice. She portrayed the characters, especially India beautifully. She was the perfect narrator for this story and I hope she continues with the series.

    "Awesome Story!"

The author of this book is new to me and extremely talented. I loved this story of second chance at love. The characters were well developed and not immature. The narrator was someone who I've listened to before and she did an excellent job with the performance. My review is not a synopsis of the book, but rathe my opinion of it. I was voluntarily provided with this review copy audiobook at no charge by the author, narrator, and or publisher. I will definitely look for more books by this author and narrator. This is a standalone listen and part of a series.

    "Beautiful Setting for a Romance"

TV news personality India has called off her high profile wedding at the alter. Her news anchor ex-fiance gets all the sympathy while India gets all the blame. Her network allows her a week off to recoup in exchange for an exclusive interview about the breakup when she returns. India decides to go to the beautiful rural resort Blackberry Farm with a friend to relax and refocus.

When India arrives in Tennessee, she gets the bad news that her friend can't make it to the resort. Noticing she's upset, a nearby man at the baggage claim, Wyatt, strikes up a conversation. After hearing she's headed to Blackberry Farm, he offers her a ride. Wyatt is immediately physically attracted to India, and the chemistry between them is palpable. India and Wyatt are repeatedly thrown together at the farm through classes, dinners, and events, and their attraction grows. But Wyatt has been hurt in the past and he's hesitant to try again, and India needs time to heal before beginning a new relationship.

Blackberry Farm was the perfect setting for a romance. It was an interesting mix of rustic and sophisticated. The characters drink from crystal glasses while listening to fiddles at the bonfire and drive between the barns and planted fields in golf carts. It sounded like someplace I'd love to visit!

From the moment Wyatt grabbed a handful of napkins to dry India's tears, I loved him. His backstory was heartbreaking and I cheered for him to find true love. India was a bit harder to warm up to, especially when she thinks things like "She'd be surprised if this man even owned a television. He seemed too smart for that.". That thought and others about despising rural life seem a bit judgmental. We're repeatedly told how beautiful and charming she is, but we're never shown it. There's not one scene or conversation that shows how wonderful she is. Everyone seems to instantly love her because she's beautiful, but isn't being in love with the veneer of physical appearance what got her into trouble in the first place? I know we're supposed to despise her ex and sympathize with her, but she did break up with him at the church on their wedding day. If the roles were reversed, she'd be entitled to a snide comment or two about selfishness. At about 80% we get a few lines about her backstory, but I think she'd be more sympathetic if it were introduced earlier.

I did have a bit of trouble with the rotating points of view. A paragraph would start with one character, switch to another, and then go back to the first without warning. It switched between two main characters and four minor characters, and I had to occasionally rewind to understand who was thinking what. Other than that, I enjoyed the read. I thought the book had great descriptions, and the author's talent really shone through with the setting she's created.

The narrator did a great job, I enjoyed her voice and the accents she gave each character. The story is set in Tennessee, and she gave the locals the perfect amount of drawl without overdoing it. The narration was really effortless and I forgot I was listening to an audiobook.

I received a copy of the audiobook in exchange for an honest review.

    "I wanted more story line"
Where does Walland rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

This story falls in to the 'one listen' category. No reason to listen to this one again. It was okay. I'm not sure why this is Book 1. It felt like all the characters various story lines were summed up in the Epilogue.

What did you like about the performance? What did you dislike?

Ms. Young is articulate and has a nice voice. Overall, I felt the narration was rushed. She didn't seem to emotionally connect with the story. Sexy parts, narration parts, dialog parts...it was mostly the same. I think a slower pace and some pauses would have really added to the listening experience.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

No, I was never transported into the story by either the narration or the actual writing. I wanted more character development and storyline development by Ms. Thorne. It just felt like they (the main characters) spent more time in bed than getting to know one another. There was a lot of potential with India and her situation once she returned back to her job. Like I said, I wanted more.

    Any additional comments?

I received a free copy of this audiobook from the author. As a courtesy, I provided an unbiased review. Thank you for the listening experience.
