Publisher's summary

New York Times best-selling author Eric Jerome Dickey sizzles in this rapid-fire sequel to Sleeping with Strangers, which finds international hit man Gideon waking up with his past haunting him and danger knocking at his door.

After a heated encounter inside a London hotel room - where he was pursued by three very different women - Gideon finds himself living in a world where there's no one to trust.

Someone has taken out a hit on the hit man - but who? Could it be the man he left alive in Tampa, the woman who taught him to kill, the scorned woman he still desires, or some other unseen enemy?

The clock is ticking as Gideon struggles to find out who from his past may have ordered the hit, while attempting to outsmart the assassin who was sent to kill him - a cold-blooded killer who isn't afraid to harm any woman involved with Gideon and is determined to make his reputation off Gideon's death.

As the hunter becomes the hunted, Gideon's hedonistic lifestyle turns into a deadly game of cat and mouse. He will need to find his friends - and also depend on his enemies - to get out of the game alive.

A Sequal at its best!

All i can say is EJD has done it again. This was a great Part 2 to Sleeping with Strangers. I must laugh because i have the hardback book, but after listening to Sleeping with Strangers on Audible, I had to "listen" to Waking with Enemies. The narrator is fabulous. I can't wait to "listen" to more! Great Job!!! A must hear!

porn

What began as typical b-grade action-adventure took a long detour to rather tedious pornography for far too much of the second half of the book. None of it is believable or intrinsic to the plot, which becomes nothing but a thin premise for lots of sex scenes.

Dull.

You just never know!

Where does Waking with Enemies rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

I listened to this series & its entertaining. If you like murder/mysteries with a bit of drama this is a series you might like. I have read other books by Eric Jerome Dickey & his style of writing, so I decided to listen to this series. If you are a fan of his take a chance, its not boring at all.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Gideon of course, he's the man.

What does Dion Graham bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

Entertaining male voice. Makes you visualize.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

Beware of "Waking with Enemies"

Hot, Steamy and Thrilling

The narrator was excellent. The love scenes were intense. Dickey has a way of pulling you into the story so much so that I didn’t want to stop listening. This was a great listen. Looking forward to the next sequel of Gideon’s life adventures.

No story - all sex

The reader emphasizes every other word so it it annoying. That aside...it is nothing but pronography written by an amateur. There is little story. Kind of like a porn flick. The plot is just there as a conduit for dull sex scenes. I think I got this on a special price. I would have rioted in the street if I had paid 30 bucks for it.

Anticipating the next book in the series...

I listened to Sleeping with Strangers and Waking with Enemies consecutively. I must say that I loved these first two books of the series. The story was very well written and Dickey has left enough mystery to the the main character, Gideon, to make you eager to learn more in another installment. The narrator did a great job and his tone was just right for the dark subject matter. The sex scenes in the story were very hot and though they may not appeal to men, I think women will dig them and find Gideon super dangerously sexy. I was so caught up in the story that I was sad when it ended and equally chomping at the bit for the next installment.

Hot !!

Would you consider the audio edition of Waking with Enemies to be better than the print version?

Yes I enjoyed listening to the narrator I believe he embodies Gidion the main character. And when I read the second book in print herd this voice.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Gidion because his life is so much worse then mine.

What does Dion Graham bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

He makes Gidion come alive.

So pornographic I had to skip entire chapters.

What did you like best about Waking with Enemies? What did you like least?

I like that he found peace with his "mother". I also like the reader and the plot of the story. The sex scenes were not just unnecessary but too long. I had listen to one 15 minutes sex scene after another. Sex with this girl, sex with that girl, then sex with both girls; to which seemed too have lasted a whole hour. I pressed the 30 sec fast forward about 50 times before the sex was over. Then shortly there was more sex. Not to mention the mother was a prostitute who was graphically molesting her son and everybody else. Wait is this an erotic book series? If so, that explains the frequency of sex.

People curse because they lack the vocabulary to accurately express themselves. The same is true for writers and sex. Sex fills the space when a writer lacks the ability accurately stick to, in this case, the assassin theme.

If EJD had left out the sex scenes, this book would be cut in half.

Would you be willing to try another book from Eric Jerome Dickey? Why or why not?

Yes. I'm going to finish the series because I like the plot. I wish he would just lay off the sex a little. Funny thing about it is, in the first book, I think, Gideon claims that it's been a long long time since he's been with a woman, and now all of sudden he's sexing everybody. LOL

What about Dion Graham’s performance did you like?

Love this guy. I'm going to seek out his other books and buy them too.

Could you see Waking with Enemies being made into a movie or a TV series? Who should the stars be?

Gideon should be Idris Elba. The guy with the broken nose should be LL Cool J. Queen Scams should be Lousy Lou. Thelma should be Thandi Newton. Lola Mac should Bre Kim Kardasian and Mrs. Jones should be Kerry Washington.
