Witty Romance with a Heartbreaking Past

This is a cute story of a man doing what he can to help the woman he wants heal from a heartbreaking past. It is full of witty sexual innuendos that range from "Fall off your chair" funny to "fan yourself" hot. It was nice to read a witty love story where someone with such a tragic past is still able to have a sense of humor and find love.

The audio book narration was great! Meghan does a great job voicing all of the characters. Her male POV may be one of my favorites done by a woman!

Great listen

Starts out fun and cute but gains depth! A relatable heroine for anyone who has ever felt unworthy. Great read!

The story and the narrator was an surprising and delightful listen. Couldn’t stop listening to this book. It’s a must listen to book.

This was an incredible book I really enjoyed listening to it. It was a roller coaster of emotions and had me hooked to hear what happened next, this was my first book of Megan Kelly and wont be my last!!! I recommend as a must read!! Thank you for the awesome book Audiobook Obsession Review group!

Ember has walls up due to her tragic past. Colton breaks down her walls thru sarcasm and teasing. Taking time slowly , Ember thinks she's not good enough for him.. This story talks about sexual abuse, drug abuse, and their after effects on family.

Ember is known as ‘the Beast’ at the match making firm where she works...it’s her job to get rid of difficult clients...and she’s freaking awesome at it!!! One of her recent clients is a rude, self absorbed guy named Alfred and she quickly puts him in his place...out the door. Unbeknownst to Ember, her company has been sold to a venture capitalist named Colton Larson. Here’s where things get interesting...Colton IS Alfred! And Colton really liked the beautiful snarky Beast. He starts stalking her on a dating site and playful banter ensues. Ember started using the dating site to ‘get in the game’. We learn that something happened in her past that caused her to be skittish about dating. She is intrigued by one particular person on the site. Imagine her surprise when she discovers that her rude ex-client, the new owner of her company & the interesting guy on the site are the same person!! Colton asks her out and the pair begin dating. They open up to each other about their pasts and they feel comfortable with each other. But just when things seem to be going well, their pasts come back to muddy the waters. Will Ember give in to her insecurities and end the best thing that’s happened to her? Will Colton get tired of fighting for her love?
Great story of overcoming drug addiction, sexual abuse and forgiveness. Love the ending!

Whoa... Ember and Colton

Wow. This book was completely unexpected for me. Meghan Kelly did a great job narrating. I got caught up in the book and was listening every chance I had. OMG, the stuff that Ember was working through was so heartbreaking. I did enjoy the dialogue between the two, the ebb and flow worked for me and the chemistry seemed on point. The story was good, and kept me listening until the end. I will definitely add Meghan Kelly to my narrator list.

cute and hot. lots of fun

I enjoyed how this started out Ember is one tough cookie and has to be in her job. Anyone who has to deal with customers knows what this woman goes through. Unlike her we have to be nice, kind, and pleasant where as she can really lay it out, do a little there’s the door don’t let it hit you on the way out. She isn’t called “The Beast” for nothing. With one customer not being who he said he is, she finds her self in one big mess that seems to be getting messier as time goes by. It is a cute hot story that is enjoyable and at times funny.


The narrator did a wonderful job really making you feel the emotion of each character as they go through some very hot times. The character voices are wonderful, you always know who is talking and what they are feeling. Her male and female voices are given with strength and character. I really liked how she showed emotions why they were bating back and forward. There are no repeating of words, no background noise, no volume changes. If breaks were taken I could not tell. This is one narrator I know I will enjoy listening to each time I pick up one of her new audios. I really look forward to listening to her voice.

Great storyline

Such a great story. Really enjoyed the dynamic between the characters. Made me feel all fuzzy!!! Great characters with a good sense of humour and personality.

This was a miss for me

I really liked the way this story started out and then it quickly fell apart. I disliked the main character Ember. She had a lot of issues and held on to that victim card to the very end. I actually liked Colton and was a nice hero.

The narration is really good. Meghan Kelly does a great job voicing Ember especially when she's upset and pretty much shouting. That's the best part of listening to this book.

I really wanted to like this book because it started so well and then it turned into something else entirely and I lost interest.
